Car description

1954 Chevrolet 150

The One-Fifty was conceived mainly as a fleet model and little effort was spent marketing it to the average car buyer of the day, although sales weren't limited to fleets. It was most popular with police, state governments, small businesses, economy-minded consumers and hot rodders. Chevrolet sold substantially fewer One-Fifties than Two-Tens or the Chevrolet Bel Air in every year of its life.

For consignment a nicely restored early version of the 150. With virtually no brite work and a no-nonsense interior, one can see the car in its basic form. It was a popular car with those outside the fleet mentality because of its economic cost, and thrifty cost to operate. We give you a nice clean version right out of 1954.

Exterior
Upfront the bumpers extend around the fenders, and a reworked vertical-tooth grille flares neatly into oval parking lights, below fluted headlight rings. The jetliner hood ornament/and aillights wear surrounding brightwork, a logo is on the trunk lid, and nicely chromed bumper with a center add on brings up the rear and frames the license plate. All the steel panels are straight, and gaps present very consistently, all the while being bathed in Bermuda Green respray which is in very nice condition. 4 chromed wheels are all around and are wrapped by blackball radials.

Interior
A swing of the door and we are met with a fresh vinyl and fabric interior harmonizes with the "fashion fiesta" exterior body color of Bermuda Green. We see greenish blue cloth tufted inserts within black bolsters, on a split bench upfront, and a full rear bench sporting plenty of leg room in the rear. The vinyl over tufted cloth continues on the door panels, where we see just a bit of cloth used as a thin panel below a cloth over vinyl armrest on either side. Chromed cranks with bakelite knobs are in excellent condition and all operate smoothly. Looking forward of the seats we are taken right back to 1954 with an all original restored dash. A no frills gauge cluster, thermostat and air controls, and a beautiful AM radio with a wonderful vertical ribbed chromed speaker centers the black painted dash. This is all topped by a fantastic 50's scripted "Chevrolet" badge. Gray headliner above, and black carper below frame the passenger compartment and present in very nice condition. The trunk is nicely restored with a neatly tucked spare into the fender well, and a pristine rubberized floor.

Drivetrain
A 235ci inline 6-cylinder engine, restored save for the exhaust manifold, sits in a clean but unrestored engine bay. This is attached to a 3-speed manual transmission which is shifted on the column.

Undercarriage
Surface rust abounds underneath, however structurally this car appears solid in the frame area. With the rust it's easy to see new parts that have been installed such as shocks, a new rear and axle, brake lines, a new gas tank, steering rods, and brake drums.

A nicely restored no frills 150, in good mechanical condition, runs great, and starts effortlessly. A comfortable front and rear seating area, and to sum it up in this case: Basic is beautiful!
