Car description

Drive a part of US performance engineering history from the Lingenfelter Collection...!

This Impala wagon was purchased from the Lingenfelter Collection out of Brighton, Michigan. The owner of the Lingenfelter Collection and Lingenfelter Performance Engineering is Ken Lingenfelter. An avid car enthusiast, he privately owns a large collection of vehicles, known as "The Lingenfelter Collection". The collection is put on display and can be visited by the public akin to a museum exhibition, it includes many different types of vehicles from all eras of automotive history focusing on performance cars. It includes Corvettes, American muscle, sports, performance, race and exotic cars.

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) is an American automotive engineering company specializing in high performance automobile modifications, specifically engines and induction systems. Headquartered in Brighton, Michigan the company was founded by and named for NHRA driver John Lingenfelter. Over the decades since its founding LPE has created high performance versions of many GM vehicles such as the F-Bodies (Camaro, Firebird), B Bodies (Impala SS, Caprice, Roadmaster, Fleetwood), Corvette, CTS-V, GTO, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Escalade, Denali, SSR, Hummer H2, and Sierra.

This 1968 Chevrolet Impala wagon was originally ordered with a partial Super Sport package before being professionally restored by the Lingenfelter Collection. After the restoration this car was part of the 150-car collection and has virtually no miles on the restoration. The original big-block 396 was rebuilt by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering with a new roller cam, polished heads, performance intake, Holley carb and coated headers, and now puts out a ground-pounding 415hp.

The restoration also included a rebuilt Turbo-Hydramatic transmission connecting to a 12 bolt rear end with 3.73 gears, providing more hop off of the line for this sleeper of a wagon. Behind the coated headers is a new custom dual exhaust that highlights the power put out by the tuned 396 big-block.
Bringing all this power to a stop are new Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners, period-correct Rally wheels and BF Goodrich radial T/As.
The beautiful new teal interior matched the metallic teal exterior paint. The carpet, headliner, door cards and seats are all new, and there is no wear and tear on the interior restoration because of the time this car was on display in the Collection. The interior of this car is absolutely gorgeous...!
Another unique touch to this Lingenfelter beauty is a collection of drag racing autographs inside the engine bay on the right inner fender including Shirley Muldowney, Tony Schumacher and Clay Millican.

The Michigan title also shows Lingenfelter Motor Sports as the previous owner of this one-of-a-kind high-performace wagon. Add this special Impala to your collection or take it to cruise night and enjoy having the only Lingenfelter-built big-block wagon at the show...!
(Note that the Lingenfelter lettering on the windshield is vinyl and easily removable.)
The car is located in Indianapolis and is being sold from a private collection.
