The Chevrolet Corvette, known also as the Vette, is a front engine, rear drive, two-door, two-passenger sports car manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet across more than sixty years of production and seven design generations. As Chevrolet's halo vehicle, the Corvette is widely noted for its performance and distinctive plastic - either fiberglass or composite - bodywork.
In 1953, when GM executives were looking to a name the new Chevrolet sports car, assistant director for the Public Relations department Myron Scott suggested Corvette after the small maneuverable warship - and the name was approved. The first model, a convertible, was introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a concept and was followed ten years later, in the 1963 second generation, in coupe and convertible styles. Originally manufactured in Flint, Michigan as well as St. Louis, Missouri, the Corvette has been manufactured since 1981 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The Corvette has since become widely known as "America's Sports Car." Automotive News said that after 'starring' in the early1960s television show Route 66, the Corvette became synonymous with freedom and adventure," ultimately becoming both "the most successful concept car in history and the most popular sports car in history.
The third generation Corvette, patterned after the Mako Shark II concept car, was introduced for the 1968 model year and was in production until 1982. C3 coupes featured the first use of T-top removable roof panels.
This is a stunning 1971 Corvette in excellent condition. The car had a frame off restoration 2 years ago. The car presents very well, the engine is strong, runs great, and the car drives great. There are a lot of upgrades that have been done to this car.
The engine is a professionally built 383 stroker producing 440HP. The engine block, and the aluminum heads are by "Case". The engine features high compression pistons, a hydraulic cam, ceramic coated headers, MSD ignition and the carbs have been tuned to run smoothly with this cam and intake. The combo works very well and the car is very fast! Sounds very good as well due to the stainless steel exhaust system. The engine also runs very cool due to the oversized aluminum radiator!
Suspension upgrades include: oversized anti-sway bars in the front and rear. The car is running on Nitto tires 17" in the front and 18" in the back. The parking brake cable bracket has been relocated to create an additional 3/4" of tire clearance in the rear wheel well. She hugs the corners very well.
The 4 wheel disc brake system was upgraded with drilled/slotted rotors, new master cylinder, as well as red powder coated disc brake calipers, all by Wilwood. Gauges were upgraded with Dakota digital red gauges, custom AM/FM/CD Pioneer stereo installed, added USB port, back up camera, padded steering wheel, and Hurst shifter. This Vette also has power steering, power brakes, and power windows, as well as an AC that blows ice cold.
