Car description

Fresh! 1956Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad is considered one of the halo cars of all time notonly for Chevrolet, but for all brands and makes of cars. The radical change from the 1955 to the 1956 grill was the removal of the Ferrari looking grill in the 1955 car and insertion of a full-length grill in the 1956 wagon. Understated is the quote, "Advertised as 'The Hot One', the boxy new Chevy was crisp, clean, and thoroughly modern-looking, and its popularity was shared with the Tri-Five Chevrolets of this generation.”

    • What typically classic innovations does Hoagie's Hot Rods create? See info below.—Owned by Eric "Big Dog" Hoagland Sr. and Eric Hoagland Jr. in Vista, California.

Overview: Please keep the following in mind—over the last 10 years every body panel, nut, bolt, grommet, rubber molding, emblem, stainless, badging has been carefully inventoried and thereafter replaced when needed with original or OEM parts. (See resource listbelow.) Would you like to see all the invoices—we have them. The paper-history goes on and on!

Engine: Custom built in Oceanside, California by the one and only Smokie's Hot Rod shop on Pacific Coast Highway, Pacific Coast Highway 1. If you've never met Smoky you've never met a real Hawaiian hi-performance engine machinist par-excellance! Fresh 350 Chevy modest performance upgrades and backed by a fresh 700R tranny for long drives.

Chassis: Frame off reconstruction. Frame powder coated. TCI front clip w/2 inch dropped spindles. All around power assisted disc brakes up front, drum rear, etc., etc., etc.

Body/paint: Pulse-red and silver. Unique beautiful 2-tone styling. ALL chrome, stainless and badging in original manufacturer's locations. Nothing shaved or filled—original or OEM replacement chrome, stainless or brass. More questions: ask Eric about how many many metal bits had to be replaced to get back to factory steel originality!

Interior: All new in black with original chrome trim.—Door cards, seats, carpet and lid. Custom AM/FM w/CD & USBIn stock looking radio. Stock chrome stringers accent the black roof liner!

Wheels/tires: American polished 5-spoke on KUMHO low-profile 16 front and 18 rear.

Business MO*: "I buy project cars of all sorts, then enjoy them a bit and then I sell hot rods. I bought this project 10 years ago. I thought it would take 2-3 years. Boy are we often "all wrong" when it comes to estimating 'build time'. If you're serious give me a ring at 760-505-0756." (*French, Modus operandi, a method or way that is well established)
