For sale by owner is a 1954 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible.
This beautiful 1954 Polo White Corvette has received the highest awards wherever it has been shown, including:
It received a 98.3% rating in the recent June 2018 NCRS Top Flight Judging event.
One unique feature of this car is the Zora Duntov personally signed valve cover. Please refer to the pictures showing Mr Duntov signing the valve cover.
This corvette has won many extensive awards and the recognition's this Corvette has received by top recognized professional judges in the Corvette field, makes this one of the finest 1954 Corvettes to be shown.
This corvette has been owned by the current owner for the last 30 years, the focus on the restoration was restoring this vehicle to be shown and judged. It is driven enough to keep all mechanical items in perfect running order. The vehicle is stored in a climate controlled facility to preserve the high quality restoration.
Every few years, when / if an item or two shows the slightest wear or discolor it is freshened up to allow this corvette to maintain it's pristine condition. Last year the carburetors were sent out to be recolored as the color was just starting to fade slightly.
It had a complete body-off, frame-up restoration which took three years to complete. Nothing was compromised in this restoration and again the focus was on restoring the car to be judged.
The entire frame was submerged and stripped inside and out. A 15 step process of cleaning, prepping and industrial painting which submerged the entire frame resulting in painting of inside and outside of the box frame was performed.
When the chassis was restored, it was taken and displayed in the Flint, Mi facility where all the 1954 Corvettes were assembled (refer to pictures of the chassis being displayed). While being displayed, it was scrutinized by many corvette professional judges to ensure the chassis was restored exactly as it was back in 1954. Only once the chassis was perfect was the body ready to be set on the chassis.
The body was stripped, prepped, gel coated and painted in the original Polo White color with the correct lacquer paint. The Corvette retains it's original fit and finish on all doors, hood, deck lid. No fiberglass cracks or paint blemishes.
Interior was redone in it's original red color, with attention to details. All interior including the convertible top was supplied by Al Knoch corvette interiors and professionally installed. All chrome gauges look beautiful and work as they should. Steering wheel and other interior items are perfect.
The engine head was removed and professionally rebuilt with hardened seats installed. Lower end and bores were checked and tolerances were good, nothing more was done to the bottom end but clean up, new gaskets and assembled.
The corvette rides and drives like new with 46,000 miles. Engine starts right up, carburetors are tuned in nicely (and set to idle at the proper RPM with parking brake on for judging). Transmission shifts nice and the brakes stop the car nice and straight.
With the awards and NCRS rating of 98.3%, this should tell the story of the quality of this restoration and it's current condition.
