UP FOR SALEE IS A 3 OWNER 1968 CAMARO RS THAT HAS HAD A FROME UP RESTORATION AND UPDATED WITH MODERN COMPONENTS. THIS IS A NUMBERS MATCHING CAR AND THE ORIGNAL TRANSMISSION AND HEADS WILL GO WITH THE CAR. THE ORIGNAL MOTOR HAS BEEN BALANCE AND BLUEPRINTED. BELOW IS A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO THE CAR.
THE OWNER HAS MOVED TO IDAHO AND HAS ASKED ME TO HELP HIM LIST THE CAR. I AM NOT A DEALER BUT FELLOW GEARHEAD. THE CAR IS LOCATED IN SAN DIEGO.
CAR CAME STOCK WITH:
ORIGINAL 327 MOTOR
RS Trim
Fold down rear seat
Rear fender mounted antenna
Driver’s side mirror with remote control
Power drum brakes
4 speed Saginaw
Power steering
Center console
We also have the original owner’s manual, warranty book, and protecto plate.
MODIFIED AS FOLLOWS: (I have receipts for almost everything)
Lojack installed.
Changed the 4 wheel drum brakes to 4 wheel disc. The stock drum brakes were sold on eBay. The front disc brakes are 69 Camaro, the rear disc brakes are 76 Trans-am.
Changed from 14” wheels to 15” American Racing Torque Thrust D wheels and BFG TA Radial tires. Front are 225 60 15 and rear are 245 60 15.
Frontframe and most of the front end components sand blasted and powder coated. Control arms fitted with Global West greaseable bushings. Poly bushings installed on frame.
New front bumper and grill. Still have the original front bumper and grill.
Original 327 sent to Skull Marine in Boulder City for high performance rebuild where it was bored .30 over (it was totally stock when sent to the machine shop). The crank was polished, rods resized, block decked, etc. The rotating assy. was balanced. CURRENTLY MOTOR HAS LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON ITSINCE REBUILD
Stock heads were removed and a set of Vortec heads were redone and fitted withroller rockers. I have the original heads.
Edelebrock RPM intake.DO NOT HAVE ORIGINAL INTAKE
ARP bolts are in almost every hole combined with a few stainless steel bolts.
A Holly 570 cfm carb replaced the original 2 bbl carb,NO LONGER HAVE
Hooker Super Comp headers (1 7/8” I think) that were first sent to Jet Hot for in and out coating.
Flowmaster American Thunder series exhaust replaced the factory system. Probably the best part of the car.
An Accel, Electronic distributor
A set of Auto Meter gauges, tach, oil pressure, water temp, and volt meter were placed into the stock console.
A rebuilt Be Cool radiator replaced the stock
A set of Flex A Lite puller fans were added.
A 140 amp alternator replaced the stock one. I think I still have the stock one.
Classic Auto Air makes an air conditioning system that bolts up quite nice so I bought that and installed it while the front end was removed. NEEDS RECHARGING
The car has KYB’s in front and rear air shocks, but you’ll get a new set of KYB’s for the back that are still in the box.
I was going to put multi-leaf rear springs and a rear sway bar on, but like the many other items listed in this ad, I bought the parts but never installed them, so you’ll get them too. The stock front sway bar was sold on eBay and a 1” heavy duty bar with poly bushings was put in its place. I never installed them, but still have them and they will go with the car. I also have a front valance & brackets that I bought and never installed.
The 4 speed Saginaw was removed and rebuilt, but later swapped out for a Tremec 3550 5 speed, Titanium shifterand Center Force clutch and pressure plate. I still have the original numbers matching rebuilt Saginaw and its shifter.
An Audiovox cruise control was installed to make the long drives even more comfortable. I removed it, but still have it. Who wants to put this car on cruise control?? J
Rebuilt factory tilt column was installed.
Grant leather wrapped model. No longer have the original
The stock RS headlight doors and vacuum system are still installed and operational, but I have them disconnected because they require too much vacuum, something the 3/4 race cam is not able to provide very well. As it is, with power disc brakes, and the cruise control needing vacuum, I had to install a vacuum reservoir. All work now.
The dash is stock and free of any cracks.
The seats were removed and new black carpet was installed.
ALL RUBBER REPLACED
I also have a new white convertible top, well liner and header pads. I’ve still got the white top in the box, but installed a new, significantly higher quality black top. I had to replace the header bow due to rust, but still have the old one that goes with the car.
Since this car has the factory option of a fold down rear seat,
All seats were stripped down to metal, repaired, and re-upholstered.
All the chrome is in very good condition, or it was replaced. Have all of the original chrome..
I have a box of original parts which include the original oil pan, timing chain cover, water pump, power steering pump, harmonic balancer, valve covers, rear speaker including its housing and grill, thermostat housing, water pump, starter, pitman and idler arms, and master cylinder. I have the original coil and spark plug wire holders too. I also have the original headlight door covers.
In addition to having Lojack installed, I began installing a Viper security system comes with the car but needs to be finished.
Body was chemically stripped down to bare metal (and have all the photos) and had any imperfections professionally repaired. There is NO Bondo on the car. It is painted Porsche Meteor Grey with PROPERLY painted ebony black stripes (not overpainted but inlaid) – all done by a restoration expert.. There are 9 tops coats of lacquer over 6 coats of color. All badges are new and have been replaced, as well as all gaskets for the lights, handles, etc.
We Dynamatted the floorboards to reduce the sound a bit, and it actually worked.
We installed a Hotchkis convertible X-Brace support.
All 4 Cocktail Shakers are in place.
New Polk speakers.
I didn’t like the power steering gear, so I replaced it with and AGR 12:1 close ratio gear and new coupler assembly.
Replaced the water pump, coil (Super Stock Chrome), added a fuel rail with pressure gauge, Hurst Shifter (and retrofitted the original chrome shifter knob onto it).
Gas gauge stopped working about 6 months ago. Did replace the sending unit but ran out of time to finish.
