There's just no real substitute for the rumbling magic of a big block, as this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 is plenty eager to demonstrate. Its sizable engine is running strong and comes with the dyno sheet readings to prove it as it combines with a great paint scheme draped over a solid body to make for one very appealing classic muscle car. This well turned out Chevy wears an entirely stock appearance - there's no compelling... reason to mess with a ride that already looked so cool as it jumped off the assembly line, after all - and the glossy black paint it wears really adds to its appealingly aggressive appearance. Broad white stripes run the length of its cowl hood that hints at the power lurking just below, as well as the deck lid in back. The deep black of the exterior provides a perfect contrast for all the clean chrome that's on board. The bumpers and body trim are in solid condition on this classic and the array of badging is also in very good order - the white SS emblems on front fenders and grille are particularly clean. Clear, unblemished glass surrounds the cabin and, from all appearances, the exterior alignment is also in good stead, with nice, consistent body contours running from fender to door to quarter panel. A thoroughly vintage black vinyl interior lies beyond the doors. While you can find some subtle signs of ordinary use inside the car, there are no serious issues to be found and, with its authentic appearance, this cockpit provides a very pleasing driving environment. The front buckets and rear bench seat have held their shape well and are in good condition, showing no tears or pronounced wear spots as they bracket a factory center console that's also in clean shape, and the seating still retains plenty of padding for comfort. A GM Comfort Grip steering wheel now sits on the column, with a sizable aftermarket AutoMeter tach also on board to monitor RPMs during more spirited motoring. Just in front of the manual shifter a trio of additional gauges have been added to keep tabs on voltage, operating temperature and oil pressure, while an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo is ready to tend to your audio needs. The trunk area in back is spacious and solid - with no lining in place you can get a good view inside and see that its components are in good shape. The namesake 454 cubic inch under the cowl hood packs plenty of power and it really shines in its well-detailed surroundings, wearing its pair of chrome Chevy valve covers and a chrome air cleaner and bracketed by a pair of ultra clean black inner fenders with an MSD ignition and plug wires, as well as a Blaster coil - on board to take the available spark to a higher level. The big block has been outfitted with an Edelbrock high-rise aluminum intake manifold, as well as a Holley dual feed carb to get the most out of its considerable displacement, and it pairs with a 4-speed manual transmission that puts maximum control of its power in the hands of the driver. Power steering makes this vintage muscle car easy to handle, while its power brakes feature discs up front for fade-resistant stopping ability as it patrols the asphalt on a set of 15" factory Super Sport wheels wrapped with Maxima Radial DTS tires. This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 is a great representative of one of Chevy's most beloved models in a very solid big block, second generation form - and its abundant power makes it a blast to drive.
