1949 Chevy Sport CoupJust about everything mechanical has been gone through or replaced on this car.
Rebuilt upgraded 1954 235 with hydraulic lifters and 1959 high compression head. I installed the engine shortly after I bought the car, 3 years ago. The engine was rebuilt about 12 years ago and I pulled it from a 1954 4 door Chevy with automatic transmission so the engine has the extra horse power. The engine block number is 0663669F54Y which identifies it as the 125 horse power block and the head number is 3836848 which identifies it as a high compression head made between 1956 and 1962.I bought the engine about 12 years ago from an old school Master Mechanic and stock car racer. He had a local repair shop and he serviced all of my company vehicles. He had it in his personal car. The car was a 4 door and I bought the car just for the engine. The engine had less then 10k when I bought it. He has since passed away. The engine was pickeled and put on the shelf and when I bought this car 3 years ago, I pulled the tired old 216 and replaced it with the 235. I do not have receipts for the rebuild but had personal history of the engine at the time I bought it.
I have the original oil cleaner that was on the car but have not installed it. I never got around to getting new hoses made. It will come with the car.
Before the engine was installed the block was put on a stand and completely inspected and was as new inside. A Mullins high flow oil pump was installed just for peace of mind, the oil pressure pegs the gauge. All freeze plugs were replaced including the critical one in the back of the block under the bell housing. All new gaskets were installed on the engine. The water pump, belts, hoses, etc, were all replaced.
The clutch was replaced with a new heavy duty clutch, throw out bearing, and pressure plate. The flywheel was machined and balanced before installation. The transmission was drained and new gear oil was added. The car shifts smooth
The carb was rebuilt and new hoses were installed. The gas tank was pulled and sealed at that time. The sending unit is new but the gauge is not working as it should.
The brake system has been completely gone through and has new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, brake hardware, and front stainless steel brake lines.
The wiring is in great shape and the front terminal blocks were replaced. The gauges all work except the gas gauge. I have a rebuilt gauge cluster that will come with the car. The heater motor is a new VDO unit and I replaced the fan motor control with a new reliable rheostat.
The wipers motor has been rebuilt and the right wiper transmission is new.
The car runs great and has a lot of power. It has no problem keeping up with traffic and runs cool in 100 degree weather.
The car was taken apart and professionally painted in 1984 and kept inside. The painter that painted this car really knew what he was doing. The paint has held up very well and still has a beautiful gloss to it. There is no rust hiding under the paint. The rockers were professionally replaced. The front floor boards were replaced with straight metal because replacement floor board parts were not available at that time. I did not like the way they looked and replaced them with the correct front reproduction floor boards and added the correct floor board supports on the passenger side and replaced the passenger side seat support. The trunk corners were repaired with heavy gauge steel at the time it was painted and are probably stronger then factory. The car has been driven and it has some nicks and scratches here and there but overall it is a beautiful car and has that really cool Kalifornia Kustom look that is so popular now. It gets attention wherever I drive it.
The outside sunvisor came loose at one time before I bought it and put a scuff marks on the roof. See pics. The sunvisor was in the wrong place when I bought the car and as you can see, it is in the perfect position for the car now.
The white wall tires look awsome on the car but have a lot of age and are due for replacement.
The interior is in good shape but the neighbors cat scratched a hole in the front side of the drivers seat when I had my back turned.
I do not have enough space to list everything that was done to the car since I have owned it. It is a cool car that can be driven and enjoyed. It is very reliable.
I have new window felts, door seals, and a rebuilt gauge cluster that comes with the car. The window felts need to be installed to stop the windows from rattling.
I am selling because I am 66 years old and have 3 other beautiful cars and I am too old to keep up with them and motorcycles at the same time. I have done a lot of work to this car and have not cut any corners, almost to the point of being fanatical. Like any other collector car, I have more time and money then I will ever get out of it. It is time to pass it on. It is not a perfect show car by any means but it is a perfect old school hot rod that was made to be as reliable as I could get it to be. I have a 1936, and 1947 Chevy that will be for sale soon along with many parts.
I have excellent feed back and have represented this car as accurately as I can. Please ask any questions and I will get back to you.

Just to answer a few questions I have received, I had the flywheel cover off when the pics were taken. It was being painted. I will install it tomorrow. The fuel pump is new. The speedometer does not work but everything has been rebuilt on the gauge cluster that comes with the car. All lights on the car work excellent, including the gauge cluster lights. The amp meter, oil pressure gauge, and temp gauge, horn, all work as they should. The doors on the car have no rust and are as solid as new. I have installed sound deadener in the floorboards and trunk as you can see in the pictures. I also installed it in the doors.
