Car description |
---|
1970 Chevrolet El Camino Custom, matching numbers, in excellent condition. I have included pics of the body vin and the vin on the engine block, both ending in 189045. I am the second owner. I traded for it in 1972, drove it while going to school, sold it to my dad in 1974, and got it back when he passed away in 2005. My dad used it as his commute truck and always had it in the garage when not at work. It has 135K miles on it. I have put less than 1K miles on it since 2005. My dad had some engine and transmission work done at some point, but I don’t have the specifics. This is a California car and was trailered to Idaho when I retired in 2013. It has been garaged since.
The El Camino is all original except for the wheels, tires, radio, steering wheel and upholstery. It was repainted the original color at some point. It also has new front shocks, new rear air shocks, new heater blower, new resistor network and fan switch and the air conditioning was retrofitted for modern coolant by Eagle Auto repair last fall. The tires have plenty of tread but have been on the car for a long time, they probably should be replaced. The vinyl top was also replaced.
The El Camino runs great, does not use any oil that I can tell, and the trans is very smooth and positive. I have had to put power steering fluid in it a couple of times so there may be a slow leak. There is also some oil leaking from the engine, my dad thought it was the valve covers, but only enough to mess up the garage floor over time. Not enough to have it fixed. The transmission gear indicator does not always show the correct gear but functions fine, the driver’s side door panel needs some work as shown in the pics, the windshield has a small rock chip near the wiper blade on the drivers side and there are door dings, etc. as shown in the pics. There is a large groove shown in the font disc rotors, this is normal and part of the design for this vehicle.
Please refer to the pics for actual cosmetic condition.
