Welcome to StreetDreamsTexas as we celebrate our 20th year in the classic and muscle car business. Chevrolet's Corvette has been a spectacular performance car since it first appeared in 1953. And while even the base models perform at a high level, certain models (and their associated codes) have attained legendary status. Without question, the 1990-1994 ZR1 Corvettes fall within this subset. With a 4 cam, 4 valve, 5.7L V8 co-developed by Chevrolet/Lotus and produced by Mercury Marine, these 'King of... the Hill' Corvettes quickly became the darlings of the automotive press with Ferrari-like performance at a fraction of the price. The ZR1 included unique bodywork (doors, rear quarters, rear facia, and rear upper panel) to accept Z-rated P315/35ZR17 rear tires on 11" rims. In addition to the 405 horsepower that came from Chevy, our Torch Red (70U) 1993 ZR1 is one of fewer than 30 that received the Street Skinner package. This was an extremely well-engineered package developed by Scott Skinner and Jim Van Dorn, formerly of Mercury Marine. With ported heads, ported plenum, larger throttle body, and re-clocked cams among its contents, this package produces around 80 additional hp. This top-shelf Vette is loaded with standard and optional features including power steering, high performance power 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS (J55), power windows, power seats (AC1, AC3), power door locks, power antenna (U75), twin remote heated mirrors (DL8), electronic air conditioning (C68), tilt steering, selective ride and handling (FX3), ZF 6-speed manual transmission (ML9, MN6), black leather interior with sport leather wheel (19I, 193, NK4), and the Delco-Bose 6-speaker stereo with CD and cassette. This car is a joy to drive at any speed, but be prepared to grin when you pass 3000 rpm. Can you think of any other car that will exceed 180 mph for under $20,000?
