Car description |
---|
This is a true barn find. I purchased this car form the widow of the second owner who purchased it in October of 1974. I was told that the original owner was a relative of the family I purchased it from. I have attached a picture of the old title that is from 1974. One of the pictures is from an oil change sticker on the door from 1993 and the mileage then was 7767. The car has never been hit and the body is flawless. The paint is showing its age and is not perfect. You can see the bonding lines in the body from the factory. It has lived its life in a heated and air conditioned garage. The running gear has never been opened and is 100% original. The headlights and wiper door does work. That is after replacing all the vacuum lines and the wiper door actuator. The tires are of course new but he original Polyglass spare from 1971 is with it and the Rally's are original.
When I purchased the vehicle it had not been driven in quite along time. I had to do the things you would expect in a barn find. Brakes, carburetor, ignition, lubricants, etc. just to get it driveable.
I have replacedthe interior due to cracking and dry rotting. Also have reworked the dashdue to it had a after-market8 track tape player in it. It even still had the old 8 track tapes in thestorage compartment. I replaced the heater coil when I had the dash out and the heat/AC controller. The interior is spot on now.
I replaced both rear trailing arms due to wheel bearing issues. While I had them out I replaced all 6 universal joints and the brake lines attached to the trailing arms.
The vehicle is road ready, I would not be afraid to drive it anywhere.
