1970 Chevrolet K/5 Blazer Full Convertible. 99% full restoration. zero rust. absolutely beautiful! Low miles. no rust. new high-end paint. chrome. trim. and interior. Looks like new! This is a very rare 1970 early model K/5 Blazer. The model K/5 Blazer was introduced in 1969. and the ‘69/’70 models are very rare and difficult to find. as well as being considered the most collectible. This one started out as a well cared for two-owner vehicle. and I’ve taken her almost all the way to a full restoration for her next happy owner. Read below for details. and call me directly at 360-936-9257 with your best close offer to make this beauty your own You are bidding on an exceptionally well-prepared example of an almost fully restored early 1970 Chevy K/5 4x4 Blazer. featuring the full convertible removable double-wall hardtop. This beauty is equipped with a professional. heavy-duty 4' - 6” heavy-duty spring-only lift. axle truss bars. dual front shocks. sway bars. etc. It spent its early life as an Engineering company’s support vehicle prior to my purchase. and was regularly and well-maintained. It shows only 43K on the odometer. It is well optioned as an easy driver with an automatic transmission. power steering. and power brakes. This truck has recently undergone the better part of a full year-long body-on-frame cosmetic and mechanical restoration. which included a full cleaning and detail of the undercarriage. Everything that could be done with the body still mounted to the frame was done. and the truck looks like new inside and out. and almost as new underneath. The truck was fully disassembled and stripped to factory paint. primer and bare metal throughout as necessary. The only rust that was found was very minor. and located in the bottoms of the doors. It was cut out and replaced with same-gauge metal. welded in fully in short stitch welds so as not to warp the surrounding metal. filled then ground smooth and metal finished to a perfect repair in as-new condition. all metal. no fiber or other fillers. Any extra holes for accessories. speakers. roll bar. etc. were also metal repaired in exact fashion. the repairs are as clean and fine as though they were never done; VERY fine metal work. After sanding and other appropriate preparation the entire inside floor and sides were then treated to a protective and sound-deadening high-end Raptor paintable textured liner (similar to Line-X). my personal product of choice. The underside of the hood was also treated in like fashion. Literally hundreds of hours were spent making certain the body panels were extremely well aligned and laser straight. inside and out. before the expensive bare-metal etching primer was applied over any fresh bare metal surfaces. high build primer applied and hand blocked. 2K sealer was then applied to encapsulate all primed body work. and provide the appropriate substrate for the paint job. The sealer was both hand-blocked and wet-sanded prior to the application of the high-end two stage base coat/clear coat *(over $2K in paint materials only!) finish being applied throughout in the original factory medium blue metallic; in my opinion. this is truly one of the prettiest factory colors available. Since it is a medium/light metallic color. I would say that at least five to six coats of base color were applied on for a full. even finish throughout. followed by four coats of high-solids clear to allow for many years of trouble-free life. No expense was spared to make this as new-looking as it could possibly be After the paint had properly cured. it was wet sanded and buffed to the mirror-like finish you see today. It appears absolutely gorgeous. and way nicer than factory-new. The top was also repaired as needed. completely refinished in factory-style texture. and painted a very durable single-stage high gloss white. It looks factory-new from the outside. The inside is still the original factory medium blue. and very nice. as are the windows. The rear hatch opens and closes. as it should. It still retains its’ original factory rubber seals. Next came the interior: The entire interior was removed. and all the metal was prepared for paint including the dash top. dash face. and door panels. floors. sides. etc. The floors and rear bed sides. as well as the inside of the tailgate were treated to the exact same Raptor sound-proof liner material. and then all the interior was treated to the exact same paint process. and looks like new. I had the choice of going either black. or factory blue with the center console (which I also restored); I chose the blue and think it was exactly the right choice. The factory gauge cluster was disassembled. cleaned. and rebuilt with a new lens and bezel assembly to appear as new. The knobs and switches were replaced. and a new glove box liner installed. The door pulls and window cranks are nice. The glove box door and ashtray were removed. repainted. and installed as well. The radio is original. but the opening was modified to accommodate a contemporary stereo system if you so choose. I personally like the look of the factory radio back in the opening. A brand-new front carpet kit was installed. along with new door sill plates. The vinyl dash pad was replaced. and looks new. The steering wheel was restored and also looks fantastic. The front and back seat upholstery was actually redone in black just prior my purchase. and is still in excellent condition. I had it professionally re-dyed black to exactly match the new dash. door panel arm rests. rear seat arm rests. etc. . and look new. All the seat brackets were repainted. along with the seat backs. I left the back area open in the painted texture finish. which I think looks fantastic. You could always add rear carpet if you so choose. Continuing the restoration to the exterior. brand new chrome front and rear bumpers were installed along with new brackets. a brand-new front polished aluminum outer grille and plastic inner grilles were installed. along with new matching polished headlamp buckets. new in-grille driving lamps/turn signals. new side marker lights. and new rear tail lights and reverse lights. The chrome door handles. locksets. and side view mirrors are also brand-new and look fantastic. The emblems are all “the” originals. which we cleaned up to look as nice as the rest of the trim. The exterior and interior both appear virtually showroom new. you'd be hard-pressed to tell this from new if you could time-travel back to 1969. what a thought! The tailgate and rear bed areas were also restored beautifully. and fit. open. & close with ease. A brand-new tinted windshield and new rubber gasket was installed. along with new door glass and restored original wing windows. The window regulators were removed. cleaned. and lubed. New window channels. felts and rubbers were also installed. Mechanically. a new high-capacity fuel tank was installed along with new soft lines. having cleaned the hard lines. The power brake system was completely rebuilt and works perfectly. The automatic transmission was serviced. and in proper working order. A newer GM Target Master 350 engine was installed into the detailed engine bay to replace the similar original 350. The original Quadra-jet four-barrel carb was rebuilt. a new battery installed. and the power steering system serviced. along with the cooling system. All the shocks were replaced in the recent past (including dual front shocks and dual steering stabilizers) and the ride is nostalgic and fun. The engine runs perfectly. the transfer case works as it should *(including locking front hubs). she runs out and drives nicely. If you know these old Blazers they give you a bit of a bounce that any four-wheel-drive enthusiast finds exhilarating. It’s a retro pleasure to drive. The wheels are brand-new retro white spoke “wagon wheels” shod with 32” 12. 5” 15 Cooper Discoverer STT radials with a lot of great tread left. It's exactly what you would have done back in the day to set your Blazer apart from the rest. The exhaust is dual and newer. looking and sounding good. I am going to consider the Blazer as being about 97% + complete. It’s a turn-key runner and driver that looks every bit as sweet as you would expect from reading above. and viewing the pictures. What remains to be done are a few minor things. you will need to purchase and install a new weather stripping kit throughout. including top rail and removable top weather stripping. install the seat belts (old ones included. think I have them all. but you’ll probably want to buy new). and maybe a handful of other minor things. all of which I can’t think of offhand. but would include hooking up the radio to a new speaker. a dash or exterior bulb here or there. etc. Small stuff. and very limited. She’s not absolutely complete and flawless. but almost there. again. 97% or so restored/renovated. You can get in and go exactly as is. an you may choose to simply use a soft top and call her good. And save ten grand over it being nut-and-bolt perfect. It’s difficult from the images to see just how nice the paint really is; it’s better than when new. by far. You may find a tiny nick or scratch due to it being on-property. but I assure you nothing major or disappointing. I’m in the truck over well over thirty grand. we went deep. fixing. repairing. replacing. refinishing all that was needed along the way without sparing expense. It would likely cost you ten grand more than that at your local shop. That said. I want to be reasonable and think $25K is just the right number for this beauty.
