Car description

It dates back far enough to carry some definite classic cachet, and yet came along recently enough to carry some welcome convenience features that equip it to handle the demands of frequent driving with ease. This 1991 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 features a sharp third generation exterior that's draped in a great color and, due to consistent maintenance over the years, is running at the top of its game. While this '91 bears a definite resemblance to previous...iterations of the model, Chevy went back to the proverbial drawing board in creating its generation of Camaros and made some inspired refinements as the years progressed. It sports the aerodynamic shape the model came to be known for, with a sharply angled front windshield and an even more contoured overall look than its predecessors. Where the ground effects often looked like an afterthought on competing models, this Z/28 represents them at their best - from front to back, they have a seamless look and a great flow and the accompanying high-rise spoiler mounted on the rear hatch is very well fitted. The dark red metallic shade provides a killer look, and even though it's the original paint, it still offers an impressive shine. Clearly, careful driving and a clean AutoCheck report have yielded some definite benefits here, as the body remains in good alignment and the doors, hood and rear hatch open and close smoothly. Inside, the gray interior has been well maintained. Neither the front buckets nor the bench seat in back, covered in a combination of cloth and vinyl, show anywhere near the level of wear you'd likely expect in a car of this era. Up front on the dash, everything has been left in factory configuration, with the exception of the aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo. The amber tinted displays inside the cluster, as well as all control knobs and switches on board, seem to function just as intended including the air conditioning which has been replaced. Additional comfort features include a tilt column, cruise control, and power doors and windows. As the '90s arrived, Chevy also employed some advanced technology to their assembly line, resulting in a quieter interior, with components anchored more firmly in place than any that came before. Owing to this Chevy's hatchback configuration, there's quite a bit of usable space in back - even more with the rear seat folded down - and everything in view looks impressively clean. The 5.7 liter fuel injected V8 is the original powerplant and, having been recently serviced, is running nice and smooth while starting up promptly. The 4-speed automatic 700r4 transmission on board here developed a deserved reputation for durability over the years and its overdrive gear provides engine-sparing low revs at highway speeds. By the time this Z/28 hit the road, power steering had been refined to get rid of the "numb" feel that often plagued earlier cars, so the handling is responsive, while power brakes that position discs up front provide easy, dependable stopping ability. This classic Chevy prowls the asphalt on a set of 16" stock aluminum wheels that are outfitted with Sumitomo tires. The undercarriage looks solid and straight below. Running strong and looking sharp, this 1991 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 offers the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a strong running third generation example of the model that still offers plenty of fun filled miles ahead.
