Listed on behalf of Monte Shelton.
Located in PORTLAND, OREGON.
This Corvair Monza Coupe was purchased in 1967 from O'Toole Chevrolet in Eugene, Oregon. The original owner drove the car until about 1990 when it was stored in his garage until earlier this year (2018). During his ownership the car was repainted once in correct Marina Blue color. In the last several months the car has been completely refreshed, including wet-sanding and polishing the paint (which is excellent), new carpet, cleaning the original upholstery, replacing the gas tank, battery, new spark plugs and wires, full tune-up, brakes serviced and other items needed to make it ready for the road once again.
The results can be seen in the photos and video. The car shows beautifully as a well cared-for original example. The air-cooled 164 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine runs smooth and strong. Plenty of power and acceleration. 4-speed manual transmIssion shifts well. Brakes stop smooth and straight. Older bias ply tires that appear in good condition. I have personally driven this car and it runs and handles very well.
Body appears rust-free. Excellent panel fit. As mentioned above, the paint shows excellently. Deep gloss and smooth finish. Clean undercarriage. Original chrome and trim in very good 51 year-old condition. Interior presents well with the only small wear at one seam on the upper corner of the front passenger seat back (see photo.) Not a big deal and confirms the originality and overall excellent condition of the upholstery. All glass is good. Windows roll up and down smoothly. All gauges work. Working factory AM radio. Working heater and defroster.
Overall, this is a very nice Monza Coupe. Perfect for running around town or CORSA club events and tours.
A reasonable reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its condition. Please bid accordingly.
