1964 Corvair Spyder Coupe - Barn Find. I am the local Corvair guy and I found this within 20 miles of my house so cars are still out there waiting to be found! This is a Florida car with a Florida title dated 2/25/2000. Miles on title read Exempt. speedometer says 64. 44. I don't know how or when it got to Kentucky but it was in the barn where I found it for a while. The Gas was rancid. no brakes. tires shot. Rings stuck on the turbo motor. I have rebuilt the brakes and put on good used P185/80R13 whitewall tires and put on the correct 1964 wheel covers that were only used in 1964. they have the little Spyder in the center (imaged). The Good. No rust on the underside of the car. floors solid. area around the rear air grille solid and lower front fenders/a pillar/rocker area solid. again no rust. I installed a 1965 110 horsepower motor with Wolf rebuilt carbs (imaged). Engine was completely rebuilt not just ringed. Replaced the camshaft. cam gear and corresponding crank gear. New lifters. cylinders honed all seals and gaskets. Runs and drives great. Has a quick shifter and the all important hand brake works. Chrome and trim will clean up nicely. Head liner is good (imaged) and even has T3 headlights. Gas tank was replaced before I got it but is not 50 years old (still clean and shiny) but I did replace the fuel sending unit with a new one and new seal. The bad. here is rust around the back window on each side (imaged) and both doors (imaged). This had to come from sitting under a tree in Florida. I have never seen this in an early model Corvair. Front windshield is fine. I have a parts car with the parts needed to weld into the body to fix the roof. There are bubbles in the paint on the hood around the Corvair letters. common on 64 Corvairs. The interior is rough. no carpet but remember there is no rust in the floor and the seats are dry rotted. I have a pair of decent. black 1962 seats (seam split) I'll put in it. The radio does not work and does not have the correct Spyder radio bezel. This car has a tremendous upside with some cosmetic work that you can get done while you are driving and enjoying it. then take it to the Corvair National convention in Knoxville in June!
