Car description |

Up for Auction 1956 Chevrolet 4 door Wagon. Original 265 engine and powerglide transmission. This old car runs and drives great. Engine sounds real good, no smoke or rattles. Transmission shifts good and smooth, even still has passing gear linkage intact. Car stops good with original drum brakes, does not pull or shake. All gauges work, oil and gen lights work, even Red Bowtie high beam indicator light. Heater blows good and hot. Windshield wiper switch is bad, I believe wiper motor is fine. Car looks good underneath. I see one patch in passenger side floor. All frame to body mounts look good. Car is pretty solid to be a 62 year old car. Has had some work around top of head light buckets and tailgate, common for these cars. I have driven this car over 1200 miles with no problems. I rebuilt the gen and put on a new voltage regulator. It still has original hub caps, all moldings are intact. Interior is the worst part of this car. Needs seats and door panels recovered. Brand new headliner comes with it. I am building 2 55 Chevys right now, and don't really have time to tear into this one. To be truthful, it is such a good ole car I don't want to take her apart. All windows roll up and down, drivers door glass is cracked, but still intact. You can get in and drive this car anywhere you want and run in traffic at 60 to 70 mph. Comes with a 1955 265 engine complete except for carb and flywheel. Motor turns over, however I have never started it, I bought it as good, but I cannot swear to it. Drive as is, or spend a little money and time, and have a super nice ole wagon. Look at my feedback, I describe cars as accurate as I can, plus I have driven this one daily for a while. Like I said, car runs and drives great, a little cold natured until it gets warmed up.

I forgot 2 mention the speedometer also works accurate also dome light works when door opens. The other 265 engine that comes with the car has the old style chevrolet valve covers on it with the chevrolet script on them they are chrome. The engine is a 55 model first year of the small block it has no oil filter attachment point on the block.Good motor for an original resto. Thanks
