"How it all Started!"I am a broker and I have been hired to sell this custom built car. The photos were taken by my digital camera. The pictures have not been manipulated or photoshopped. they appear in the auction as they were taken. I am presenting for sale (EVER) a one of a kind custom built 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible Roadster. One of the most meticulous and thought out custom built Corvette Sting Rays that you will ever get to see. Phase I: A young and ambiticious local business entrepeneur. loved cars. He built an empire buying and selling parts. He did well. He purchased some collector cars. he had always wanted. over time. he had accumulated about 102 cars. in which. he fixed. repaired and restored. It was a great learning experience. and he got to know a lot of car people who knew cars. The one car he did not have in his collection. was a Corvette. He set his mind to find one and he researched what year and model of corvette he wanted and started the search. He happened to find an unrestored completely stock 1965 Sting Ray Roadster at a local auction and bought it. It was around 2006. some time ago. so you just might get an idea of how long this project took. Phase II: The Sting ray was brought to the shop and thoroughly gone through. a good solid Southern California Car ready for an army of car guys ready to work on it. Discovery. found a small detail. in that. the engine and transmissiondid not have matching numbers. that went with the vehicle vin number. The original idea of a stock restoration. then changed. A group of savy car guys came to the conclusion. that they could make this into a custom Sting Ray. Having made that decision. the ideas. became endless. They sat down. and hammered out a blue print of the idea of what they wanted to build. The goals were lofty and massive. and they were in all agreement and full speed ahead. At this point. cost was not relevant. it was to produce a car like no other. Phase III: It was decided early on. A Shaver 510cc Aluminum Racing Engine. that would be the heart and soul of the new custom Sting Ray. The Sting Ray was completely dismantled. the entire frame. and body re engineered. to fit all the newest racing parts available. New electrical wiring. new rubber. cadnium and chrome plated parts added. The goal was to keep the original integrity of the Sting Ray. but bring into it. modern and up to date racing gear that would make it a very strong power house. Guages restored and calibrated. New racing front end. A new RMG 6 speed manual transmission installed. New modern steering wheel and column to fit in the new custom sting ray. Every bolt was replaced. The engine compartment components were chromed and installed. The body was carefully balanced with flared fenders to fit the new wheels and tires for maximum handling and performance. Shelby racing rims. and american racing knock offs. new Goodyear Eagles rear 275/40ZR18 and front 225/45/R17. New factory Corvette Sting Ray Interior with new matching soft top. Phase IV: More details. rack and pinion conversion kit. Electronic Hydraulic Master Cylinder Assembly. Side Header Pipes. Racing brake system with custom calipers. the list goes on. Paint decided. red on black. Many hours and coats of paint to make this perfect king of the road. flawless. If you want to know more. just ask. but let me tell you one thing. with a 510 cubic inch engine. some of the tests that were recorded are impressive (test results available upon request). Max power = 310. 7(HP)@4350(RPM). Max Torque=467. 9(ft. lbs)@2900(RPM) and Max Power=293. 0(HP)@4250(RPM). Max Torque=439. 7(ft. lbs)@2700(RPM). Since the completion of the custom build project. the Sting Ray only has about 1. 80 miles on it. so it's still pretty much a new car. Take a look at the pictures taken. pretty much gives you an idea what you're getting into and not just another everyday run of the mill sports car.
