Car description

This is a cool example of a well-preserved 1957 Chevrolet 210 Delray Club Coupe nostalgic drag car. Although the Bel Air was the top offering in '57, the 210 Delray is a rarer find today, which is reflected in the values posted by the collector car community. This '57 was built at the Atlanta, Georgia plant and has always been a southern car. It appears to have been campaigned originally with a 327ci small block Chevy engine at many drag strips in the south since the late 60s, even competing at Montgomery Raceway Park and the old IHRA sanctioned Phenix City Dragway, in Alabama. Below is a list of options now found on this vintage drag racer;

* 383 stroker engine

* Powerglide transmission w/trans brake and line lock

* 3500 stall convertor

* Holley 4150 650 cfm carburetor

* COMP Cams 672/316 "Drag Race" cam

* Hooker Headers

* Dart Pro I heads

* Dart single plane "Air Gap" intake

* ATI balancer

* Proform electric water pump

* MSD 6AL ignition

* MSD three-step module selector (leave, shift, high)

* MSD pro billet distributor

* Holley electric fuel pump

* Fuel cell

* Mini tubbed

* Outlaw triple adjustable ladder bars

* Lakewood front race shocks

* Pro-Race spool

* 9" Ford w/5.13 gears

* Chassis Engineering axles

* etc...

The 210 starts quickly, runs strong, and sounds fantastic! It steers wells and stops fine. The PG shift is crisp and firm. The frame is super solid and in great shape. The front pans are intact but are soft. The remainder of the underside, including the trunk and body-to-frame mounts and pucks, is in great shape with no issues.

The body looks good. A scoop has been added to the original hood. The battery has been relocated to the trunk for weight distribution. The trunk lid is metal and is held in place with quarter-turn Dzus fasteners. Bel Air side panel inserts were added years ago. The interior still has the original dash and Delray optioned headliner (showing some wear) with added racing necessities, such as a tachometerand shift light. The car still has roll-up windows. It has race style light-weight aluminum roll interior side panels. There is also a race seat and a driver's side roll bar.

This '57 has a wicked stance with its Big 'n Little tire combo. The 30X14.50/15 M&H Cheater slicks are mounted on Weld aluminum Draglites, while the front runners are Nexen 165-80/15 mounted on Centerline Drag Wheels. Both sets of tires are new with zero passes.

Yes, the car does have the VIN plate intact, as well as the body tag. It is registered and tagged. In the state of Alabama, cars of this age are not issued titles. If your state issues a title, you will be able to get one with the Bill of Sale and registration that comes with the car.

It's getting harder to find these cars that were originally built back in the 50s, 60s, 70s to race. Most are either parts cars (or worse) or trailer queen restorations priced in the stratosphere. This car is neither of these. It's a bitchin' hot rod with the power to back up its looks!

Whether you're wanting to go old school drag racing, cruising at the local drive-in, or just looking to add an original vintage race car to your collection for the regional car shows, then this 1957 Delray is for you!!
