I created the SS427 convertible Chevelle I have craved since the 80s. I started with a 137,000 mile Malibu convertible, which had front disc brakes, console and buckets, power top and a solid body and frame. The engine is the hard to find 1969 427, with casting number 3963512. Ironically, this is the same casting as was used for the 1970 LS6. The transmission is a Tremec TKO 500, and was converted from an automatic to a 5 speed, through the use of the Keisler retrofit. The wheels and tires are manufactured by Wheel Vintiques, and are Oldsmobile SS1, which are chrome, instead of painted silver. Fronts are 8 inch with 245/60-15 tires. Rears are 10 inch with 295/50-15 tires.
I have added many of the options that would have been available in 1970, by purchasing only NOS, or OEM parts. I intentionally did not restore the undercarriage, as I intended this car to be a driver. Besides, it serves to show the pristine condition of the car, as I found it. It comes with several original showroom brochures, one of which shows a Monte Carlo convertible, which was never produced. Also included is a vintage 8 track case, full of tapes, LP record album, yard stick, the original owner's manual, protectoplate, build sheet and even the dealership envelope with the stock number of the car, marked "SOLD".
I've been working on cars, mainly GM, for about 45 years. I have a lot of knowledge with regard to A body cars, so this car is done properly. I have a lot of pictures of this car, and of the body taken during the preparation for paint. I was involved in every step of the restoration, and will provide any information I have.
It is a very, very nice car, and is valued accordingly. I'm interested in a sale, or trade. I would prefer to accept offers.
