Car description |

This beautiful Chevrolet Caprice has been my daily driver for 15 years. It's an amazing car that I have loved and has had lots of Hollywood adventures. For a while I dated Franka Potente the female star of "The Bourne Identity" and "Run Lola Run" and we were chased by paparazzi in it. Pictures of us would show up in German tabloids and I had no idea I was being photographed. I would try to see them tailing me, then drive in circles and make random u-turns like I was in a movie but despite this they would show up at places where I was at. One time I went to my acupuncturist and just as I took my clothes off and lay down with the needles in me, I heard a ruckus in the front room. It was the receptionist pushing the paparazzi out of the office as I lay mostly naked with needles all over. For the longest time I couldn't figure out how they would show up at random places I went until we figured out they actually put a tracking device on my car!
I directed and produced the documentary "The Wild and Wonderful Whites" which Johnny Knoxville produced. (It was on Showtime, Netflix and can now be seen on Amazon). The stars of that documentary Jesco White (AKA the Dancing Outlaw) and Mamie White rode around in it on the way to the film's LA premiere. Check youtube for clips of Jesco and Mamie and then imagine them being taken by me to see the Chinese Theater and other Hollywood sights in my car as they insisted I pull over every 20 minutes to smoke some of the good California weed they had just scored and were in awe of. Jesco also got drunk on Fernet in my car then decided it was a witch's brew and was scared and convinced that my friend Miss Satanica who is a famous fire eater was also a witch.
John C. Reilly went to a country music show with me in it. It was used for shoots by magazines with half nude models lounging on top and was rented for a couple of movies. I believe there are a few women who dated me only because they liked riding in the car so much!
For a few years, I was taking it to a crusty old mechanic who used to be a stock car driver named Bob. All my minor repairs seemed to take two weeks because he would explain he was looking for a part. I later found out from one of his employees that he would fix my car in one day and then drive it for two weeks to pick up women. That explained why I twice found tubes of black lipstick in my car after picking it up from his shop. It's got a lot of history and always gets noticed. People stop me all the time to ask about it. It's a fast and smooth ride.
My dad just turned 87 and I have to drive him to all his appointments. He has a hard time getting in and out of it because it's low so I have to sell it, which breaks my heart. From what I've been told, an old lady had it for years. She then sold it to a man who wanted to get his son a cool car. The son saw it and yelled at his dad that he wanted a 1960's Chevy not a 1970's Chevy so the dude sold it to me without his son ever driving it. (Thank goodness for spoiled ungrateful brats!)
I have the paper work on every repair done on it dating back to 2003. It has Classic Car Lojack installed in it. In 2008, I put a new engine in it. It's a 350. The new engine has 35,000 miles on it. In the last three years I've also replaced the transmission, air conditioning and it has a brand new battery. The car has 207,091 miles on it.
If you want to restore it to perfect condition, you'll have an easy time. At some point in the next few years I would paint it if I were keeping it. The body is straight. People are astounded at what great shape it's in. My current mechanic begged me not to sell it because he loves it so much. There are only a few minor flaws but so you know, they are: The front bumper needs to be either re-chromed or replaced because of rust. Otherwise, because it's a California car, it has almost no rust. There are a few spots that you can see in the pictures and it looks like the back bumper should also be re-chromed at some point. If you decide to paint it, you should do these fixes at the same time. If I was keeping it, I'd also reupholster the back seat. The very top of the upholstery near the window is ripping from sun exposure as you can see in the pictures. The upholstery on the passenger door panel also needs to be replaced. The front seats are fine but have a few hard to see stains. The case for the interior light is also cracked. I replaced the dashboard a few years ago but it now has a tiny tear you will barely notice. One of the hubcaps makes a clicking sound when it drives. I also have the fender skirts. They are in perfect shape but I prefer the look of the car without them. You can put them back on if you prefer that look. I also have a few extra hubcaps in my trunk that you can have.
This is one of the most solid cars ever made. I've been told that people loved using this car for demolition derby because it's all American steel. It's a tank and you'll feel safe despite the fact that every idiot on the road is on their cellphones and not watching the road. You'll know that if the idiot on his cellphone hits the Chevy, their car will be destroyed and the Chevy will drive away with no damage. People often say "it's a boat" but I correct them and tell them "it's a yacht!" It's gigantic and you could almost fit another car in the trunk because the trunk is so huge. It really is from a time when America could build a seriously amazing car. Not only that, it's got shoulder and lap seat belts as well as disc brakes so you have that extra level of security.
