Here is a realopportunity forsome die hard Chevy fan. It's a 6800 Chevy/Superior school bus that is over 95% original, and still runs (just drove it 25 miles when I moved last month). That's the reason it is for sale - because Ino longerhave the room to restore it. There arebrand new tiresall around, with less than 100 miles on them. It is currently licensed and the title is clear.
From what I have researched over the years, there are no other 6800 busesthat are still operational. This one has 8 side windows and is identical to the Partridge Family bus (which was actually a 1955 Chevy 6800). It could be easily painted to look just like that one! The body is in excellent shape, with only a single white repaint years ago. There is some surface rust where that paint came off from sitting outside for over 30 years.
This Arizona bus was in use until the early 1980's, when it was parked in a field which turned to mud during monsoon. When itgot pulled out, the rear wheelwells and bumper were damagedfrom the chains. So, I ended up getting a 1956 Superior parts bus to replace the damaged areato the 1957 bus (see last picture). The original seats were gone when I got it. There are also a few boxes ofparts that Icollected for the restoration (including new running lights, a Superior first aid kit, and large School Bus decal for the front).
The non-original 283 runs fine (willinclude a 1957block to rebuild back to original), the 4 speed works fine, the 2 speed rear end isfine, with no noises. Everything else needs to be redone to make it roadworthy.
This bus attracts a lot of attention. Think of the all of the fun you can have with it. Both buses willneed to be transported. Any questions please call 928-231-0254.
