Go big or go home. You've heard the saying, but now you can live it with this 1956 Chevrolet 3100 4x4 pickup. It's definitely big, and packs enough blasting powder under the hood in the form of a 350 inch V8 to back up its outrageous looks. It's also still fully functional as a truck and thanks to an updated interior, it's as comfortable to drive as your modern pickup. It seems counter-productive to build a truck... that can go anywhere then wrap it in laser-straight bodywork and sparkling paint, but that's certainly the case here. One glance down the flanks on this big red hauler will convince you that a significant amount of time went into the sheetmetal prep and the results speak for themselves. It's not so perfect that you'll be afraid to use it as intended, but it certainly gets more than its fair share of appreciative glances going down the street. Bright red is a traditional truck color and this big Chevy wears it better than most. All the OEM steel was left intact, and with a lift kit, the original wheel houses have plenty of room for those giant tires. In fact, the only real deviation from stock is the spray-in bedliner surrounding the oak planks in the bed and an accessory visor on the cab. Lots of bright chrome glitters against the bodywork, and it proudly wears CHEVROLET in bold block letters on its tailgate. The list of new stuff inside is extensive, and includes just about all the soft parts. The original bench seat was dumped in favor of a set of modern buckets reupholstered in durable and comfortable tan vinyl. Custom door panels match the seats and there's a center console with some storage and a pair of cup holders. It's got a late-model steering wheel and a tilt steering column, plus a few accessory gauges to augment the original instruments. A column shifter manages a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, with a familiar lever for the 2-speed transfer case on the floor. The high seating position gives you a commanding view of traffic and there are tough rubber floor mats to ensure that it looks tidy even if you're out playing in the dirt. Something this big shouldn't also be quick, but thanks to a 350 cubic inch V8, this truck feels plenty punchy around town and cruises easily at modern highway speeds. The chassis is an early '80s GM pickup, so the hardware is robust and easy to service, and the driving manners are OEM. Power steering and brakes are probably mandatory on a truck this big, and the engine has been augmented with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and an aluminum intake manifold. The tidy engine bay was painted to match the body, and showcases the bright Chevy Orange engine and satin black dress-up kit on the small block V8. Wiring and plumbing were neatly routed for a sanitary look, and they stuck to factory parts whenever possible for reliability. The suspension is augmented with a modest lift, heavy-duty shocks, steering stabilizer, urethane bushings, and a variety of other off-road-ready hardware, so you don't have to worry about hitting the trails. Flashy aluminum wheels with giant 35x12.5R15 off-road radials offer plenty of traction and great looks, too. Go anywhere, carry anything, and get a lot of attention doing it, this 3100 covers all the bases. Call today!
