This posting is for an extremely rare in this condition, totally original 1963 Impala Super Sport Convertible, equipped with its original high performance drive train. This is a true "survivor" and is in untouche, un-restored, All Numbers Matching superb condition for its age. I would be surprised if there are even five like this one in the country. It is a true Super Sport as evidenced by the interior code of 845 indicated on the cowl tag denoting aqua bucket seats. An original B F Goodrich 750-14 spare tire with little to no wear and the original jack set are still in the trunk
All of the following are original:
Convertible top and well cover. (The plastic window was replaced in 1975 (the date code is stamped on it) The original turquoise parade boot cover is still in pristine shape.
All of the glass including the windshield which is in beautiful shape.
All of the exterior trim, badges, bumpers, grille, engine turned aluminum pieces, tail lights, and three of the headlights are the original T- 3's.
The Carter AFB 3461S carburetor, the distributor, matching number intake and exhaust manifolds, original Harrison radiator with no leaks, and the engine which has the same numbers as the last six digits of the Vin number. The suffix code appended to the engine number beginning with F for Flint Mi is RB and identifies that the engine is the 300 horse power model with the standard {manual} trans. The carburetor tag 3461S verifies the same.
Complete interior including carpet, door panels, kick panels and all rubber weatherstripping, all of which are in excellent condition. Also there isn't even a hint of sun fade anywhere in the interior, nor is there any wear evident onf the carpeting or even the heel pad. This car has obviously been stored indoors all of its long life.
Much of the ermine white exterior appears to be original.
The car is equipped with its original matching number 300 horsepower 327 cubic inch engine, Borg Warner T-10 Mark lll close ratio 4 speed transmission and original 4.ll axle ratio rear end. All of these items are original to the car. They are numbers matching and also have correct matching date codes as verified by the book "Chevrolet, By The Numbers" by Alan L. Colvin which is the bible for documenting 1960 to 1964 Chevrolet's.and will be given to the new owner along with other extras further down. Also the distributor, carburetor, intake manifold, and exhaust manifolds, all have matching numbers and manufacturing date codes that are correct. Even the battery tray, and Harrison radiator are original as are the hood springs. I replaced the original fuel pump, alternator and water pump even though they were still working at the time to enhance reliability. They come with the car and all have matching numbers and matching date codes.
Original documentation that comes with the car are the original Owner Protection Plan booklet ID number C 466170 which has the original owners name and address and purchase date from Prout Chevrolet which was April 16, 1963, the original owners guide, the booklet with free chassis lubrication coupons from Prout Chevrolet, the folding top manual and the custom features brochure.
This Super Sport runs and drives like new with no rattles, strange noises, smoke, etc.and pulls through the gears very strongly. The clutch and transmission operate exactly as they should . There is no noise or whine from the rear end. There are no leaks except for a very minor one from the passenger side engine valve cover.
The engine compartment is very clean and original except for an updated dual chamber master cylinder. I have a new Gm restoration part single chamber original that is correct and goes with the car.
The trunk is completely original with the original mats still in place, the original decals and the original spare tire and jack. Check the photos at Photobucket to confirm.
This car is a joy and absolute pleasure to take out for a drive. It also tends to attract a lot of attention and thumbs up because of its appearance and condition, especially with the top down.
Extras:A brand new correct KEE black pinpoint vinyl convertible top with pads and plastic window all still in the original box, and a new GM Restoration carpet set in original loop style in aqua come with the car. The originals are in such good shape that I have not wanted to remove them. "They are only original once!"
Original matching numbers and correct date of manufacture codes water pump, alternator and fuel pump come with the car.
I am leaving out quite t a lot of details so serious inquiries by phone are welcome.
