1973 Chevrolet Camaro Split front bumper Type LT selling at "No Reserve"
I recently purchased this 1973 last of the split bumper Camaro Type LT edition from a gentleman not far from where I live in Kenosha directly out of a barn located in Caledonia, Wisconsin. I had already purchased a 56 Cadillac from him that was stored in the same barn. He mentioned he had an older Camaro in the same barn since the mid 80's from back when he was in high school and said he was thinking of selling that one next. I asked him for first dibs and he called me as soon as he pulled it out of the barn where it saw its first day light in over 30 years. As shown on the license plates this Camaro was last roadworthy in April of 1985 prior to the barn storage. This is the first time this rare Camaro has been offered to the public on eBay.

With each passing year it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find any split bumper numbers matching Camaro's from any year to restore. I am selling this Classic Chevy as needing a complete restoration where every part and panel will need to be repaired or restored in order to bring this car back to its former glory. The car will need a new ignition although I do have the original GM keys that came with the car in 1973, and getting the passenger door open will be left up to the new owner. I had no time to play around with it. I will explain everything I found out from the previous owner at the point of purchase.
The prior owner made this purchase from what he was told was the original owner. He intended on restoring this rare gem, but since he hadn't touched it in over 30 years the chances of him restoring it were slim to none. This Camaro has the same plates on it from when it was last registered in 1985, so I was told that the mileage is absolutely correct at just over 62,000 original miles. The dash panel does have the 130 mph speedometer and the tachometer package. As far as the mileage goes after all it was only 12 years old when it was parked. I can say that I would replace the quarter panels if I were going to restore this car.
I'm a 442 guy, so I know next to nothing about these Camaro's except that this was the last year of this body style, and I know mostly all Camaro guys like the split bumper cars the most. The original Silver paint was believed to be the original paint. It was just freshened up with a coat of Satin Nickel as a rust preventative. The original 350 engine has not been fired up in all of these years, so getting it back roadworthy will be up to the winning bidder. This Camaro does not run or drive, and I did not make any attempt to work on it as I have way too many projects going on right now. It looks to me that there is a Holley double pumper 4-barrel carburetor under the cool dual snorkel air cleaner with Mickey Thompson valve covers, so I believe those were period correct aftermarket pieces added way back then.
If this rare Camaro is restored properly the winning bidder will most likely have endless thumbs up wherever they drive. You should have an outgoing personality to drive a car like this, because everywhere you go people will be attracted to you like a magnet. I can't count how many times I've had people come down on my property and ask me if I would sell this car. I simply told them I only sell on eBay, so they will have to wait until it appears up for auction. This Camaro was so original it still has the original engine decal under the hood, and the inside the drivers door blue manufacturers decal with the vin number in tact along with the tire pressure decal. That picture also shows one of the yellow plugs to show that this car was treated with the Ziebart rustproofing addition. I showed a couple pics of a blue plain Jane Camaro at the last Mecum auction that had an automatic. Imagine what this Silver Camaro LT would bring with a 4-speed.
This Camaro came factory ordered with Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, Power Rear Defogger, Dual Sport Mirrors, Bucket Seats, Split Front Bumper, Dual Exhaust, and the best option of all being an original 4-speed car with a 4-speed console. I can't say if the 4-speed is original, but the lever has 442 on it of all things. There is a nice set of four of the original sport wheels for 1973 with a full matching set of four Widetrack Super 70 ply tires with nice tread with all four center caps, all four beauty trim rings, and all 20 chrome lug nuts.
The trunk floor still looks in good shape and was coated with AC Delco Black and Aqua spatter spray to make it appear factory correct. The original Camaro trunk mat was cleaned and placed back inside the trunk floor with the nicely detailed original jack, jack stand, bumper mount and crow bar. The original never used space saver spare is also included inside the trunk. I never had the car up on a lift, but from what I saw taking a glance at the undercarriage the floors and frame still look in decent condition from everywhere I looked, but it will need to be scraped and painted. It did look a little crusty underneath from sitting for so many years. The interior still looks in very nice condition as evident from the pictures with a brand new pair of black carpeted floor mats. The bucket seats still look in relatively good condition, and I did place brand new air flow covers over the bucket seats. The headliner will need to be replaced. The sport steering wheel is still in very nice condition. All of the factory seat belts are still in place. There is an AM/FM Stereo, but I can't say if that is a factory original, because I don't know enough about Camaro's. Although the dash was not cut up like what was typically done in the day to fit 8-track or Cassette players. I didn't see any evidence of this car ever being involved in any accidents other then the few minor visible imperfections. Even though this car had the Ziebart undercoating from the factory the trunk lid was rather rough, so I found a buddy who had a nice clean one, so that body panel is not original, but in very nice shape. I'm selling this Camaro with an open, clean, and clear title that was issued in the State of Wisconsin.
