This is anoriginal California, one owner,1988 Chevrolet Caprice Station Wagon.
Carfax/Auto Check certified accident free. Average Auto Check score is 23-45, this particular Wagon scored a 48. (Autocheck report available upon request)
The 5.0 liter engine starts right up and runs extremely well! There is a receipt for $2,673 for a complete engine. Mechanically the car is great! The idle is smooth and the Wagon is very quiet. It does not leak, smoke, overheat or make any unusualnoises. The entire drive trainis solid and tight.
-The automatic transmission shifts properly into all gears
-The brakes, steering and suspension are in good working order.
-All electrical systems operated properly when tested
-Climate controls operate, the air conditioning will need service
-All the power windows work, the driver'swindow falls off the track so it will need repair
Cosmetically this Caprice Wagon is very original and has a nice/honest appeal. The structural integrity is superb and the frame is rock solid. Although the paint is 30 years old it still has a nice luster. The car has always been in California mostly close to the coast, so it does have a few spots of minor rust/blistering on the outside (see pics). The rust consists of some blistering/corrosion rear (side) windows/front door frames (see pics). There are minor dings, dents, chips, scratches, scrapes, hazing, fading, nicks and various other imperfections you will usually find on most un-restored vehicles. The frame, floors and rest of the car are excellent!
The overall appearance is very respectable!
-Tires all have descent tread remaining....not sure of the age
-Nice stock steel rims with original wire wheel hubcaps.
Nice looking seating surfaces have minimal wear. The headliner is ripped/falling in a few spots. The dash has cracks, discoloration and tears. Carpets have minor tears.
-Original factory radio is still in place with no unusual dash modifications
-Flashers for turn signals will need attention
Due to the 5 digit odometer and the age of the vehicle there is no way for us to verify the mileage.
This is a true American classic wagon that could serve the new owner very well for years to come as it sits, or is the perfect candidate to restore to perfection.
