Car description |
---|
This old girl has a 396/402 Big Block engine with headers coupled to a granny low 4 speed transmission with a PTO which powers a Holms 400 full adjustable boom wrecker unit. Use as a tow truck or as a cherry picker with multiple adjustments in length and vertical pitch.
This is a dully rear end unit with power steering, vacuum assisted power disk brakes up front and drum brakes in the rear. The complete brake system was rebuilt, rotors turned, new pads, rear drums turned, and new shoes. Also a booster and master cylinder was added to replace the old tired unit. Odometer reads 64746 miles, but that may or may not be accurate.
The radiator has been completely rebuilt, new 4 core, upper & lower tank stripped and cleaned. This truck has great patina from about mid section up. Rust in usual places. All new Goodmark repair panels provided to include lower fenders, cab corners, rockers, floor kick panels to include inner pieces. The dash is pristine, uncut with a factory original Tacometer and AM radio. Speaker is old and cracked so while the radio works, there is only static sounds.
This is a great old truck from a bygone era. It can be used as is for driving and working while replacing metal. Part cars from brambles, farms, and even use the rear wheel dollys to retrieve abandoned vehicles in the boonies. This is a real deal work vehicle for any scrapper who wants a patina classic truck. This is the basic rat rod tow truck that with a little effort, blood, sweat, busted knuckles, and tears can run with the best of the rat rod crowd and tow the ones that break down back to the garage.
