Car description

I am 76 years young and have owned the pickup for past 42 years. I taught my son to drive in it.

This has been lovingly driven and maintained by me and now it is time for someone else to enjoy this exceptional pickup.

For the record this is NOT a stock 1966 Chevy C10, although it looks like it from the exterior and interior, at first glance. It is far superior in performance, safety and handling than a stock pickup from the factory. I have all of the original paid receipts for this restoration totaling over $50,000 and they will be provided for the successful buyer.

Through an 8-year body off restoration process, this pickup has been improved well beyond the farm truck standard the factory built in to originally.

All work was done by professional shops/craftsman, not by me. The frame was sandblasted, primed and then painted in high quality gloss black paint.

My original cab was a small rear window cab and I was able to find a big rear window Custom Cab, so it is correctly title with a Free and Clear Idaho Title, but it is not a number's matching vehicle. Nor are the drivetrain upgrades factory or stock.

The big window Custom Cab was acid dipped, all rust areas on all sheet metal was removed and replaced with new steel, it was then sealed/primed and painted by one of the top auto painters in the Vancouver, Washington area in an original 1966 factory GM color called 'Sky Blue'. It is a top-quality base coat clear coat paint with good depth.

In the bed, you will find beautiful red oak with a clear sealer and stainless-steel trim strips. You will find the paint and body work straight and flawless.

Front and rear bumpers plus the grille are show quality triple chrome plated.

The drivetrain...The engine is a 350 cubic inch SBC, 4 bolt main crate engine from Jasper. It came with a 3-year warranty, which has now expired due to timing. This crate engine only has a total of 1,800 miles since new. The break in oil was replaced with Amsoil 10-30 oil and Amsoil filter. It has a mild RV type cam, performance heads, Edelbrock aluminum intake and carburetor. It starts, runs and drives excellent (no issues). It has polished aluminum and chrome accessories (see pics). The new rebuilt transmission is the desirable TH700R4 with the 4thgear overdrive. When first restored I had a TH350 three speed transmission installed but found I did not like the RPM range at freeway speed, so it was just replaced within the past month. It was also from Jasper and does have a warranty. It has less than 100 miles on the 700.

It has been upgraded to power steering, front disc brakes, a tilt steering wheel and a new power brake booster and proportioning valve. The front end was dropped by 1”, but the rear height is standard. It drives, stops and handles superior to any stock 1966 Chevy pickup.

A heavy duty new driveshaft is connected/balanced to a original factory limited slip differential with 3:73 gears and all brake components front and rear are new.

A brand new deluxe 22 circuit wiring harness from LMC ($800) was installed and all lights and etc. are new. It even has courtesy lights under the dash.

Additional upgrades include...Hood is insulated, insulation/sound deadening installed in cab, under all new molded pile carpeting. Kick panes were upgraded to include new high-quality speakers and dash speaker has 2 speakers instead of 1 (as original). Radio looks like stock radio, but is high output CD, iPad and iPhone compatible AM/FM. Original bench seat was completely rebuilt by professional upholstery shop using superior foam and additional reinforced springs in wear areas. Deluxe brown crushed velvet material with stock type seams and 3 seat belts. The seat is SUPER COMFORTABLE. Picture shows a removable center console/armrest, but it was a gift and I intended to keep it. The gauge bezel is chromed instead of black (stock). It has all the deluxe knobs. Even the glove box Chevrolet and vent window rails are chrome plated. The items on theglove-boxare removable magnetic cards from my Chariots Car Club members. This pickup does have a heavy-duty receiver hitch that is frame mounted. This pickup is capable of towing a vintage RV. I didn't wire it yet, but it would be very simple to wire an RV plug for it and even install a trailer brake if needed. This pickup would be a knock out with a vintage trailer behind it. It is already super popular at car shows by itself. As you will see in the photos, the original door latches were replaced with deluxe and improved new latches from LMC.

Has 2.5" dual exhaust with stainless steel "Magnaflow' lifetime mufflers. Exhaust is not loud, but it has a good rich throaty sound that tells you this is not a stock engine.

Tires are 255/70 Radials mounted on new polished aluminum 15X8 modular 6 lug rims. Needed wide rims to accommodate HD disc rotors. The spare is actually mounted in the stock position under the oak bed.

Book values at NADA and Haggerty indicate the high retail for this truck is about the same as the $50,000 I have invested in it.

Recently, two short step side Chevy pickups of the same vintage went through the Mecham auction in Monterey for $52,000 and $54,000 bone stock.

This pickup only has a total of 1,800 miles since the full restoration or upgrade was done. I'm realistic and know I will probably not get my investment back, but I do know that classic vintage pickups are one of that fastest appreciating segments of the collector car market right now and this pickup will continue to appreciate in value if cared for.

I have no control of this, but my worst nightmare is that some spoiled affluent kid buys it and trashes it. My hope is that someone mature buys and drives it daily. This pickup has a few hundred thousand miles of fun, head-turning driving ahead.

Since the total restoration, it has only been driven once in the rain, when a brief shower caught me by surprise.

It's going to sell and my hope is that it goes to a good new home that will appreciate it as much as I have for the past 42 years. Good luck bidding! You will not have any disappointments with this pickup. It is exactly as represented.

Will be happy to work with your transport company for loading. Willing to selling nationally or internationally. My zip code is Meridian, Idaho 83646 to obtain transportation quotes to your zip code. Only 15 miles from the Boise, Idaho airport, if you chose to fly in and drive home. I would pick you up at the airport.
