I'm listing my personal 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Town Sedan 2 door.
This Fleetmaster still has a 216 (6 cylinder) engine and 3 speed manual (column shift) transmission. The car runs and drives as it should. The motor runs great and the transmission shifts great. The car is equipped with Fenton headers and dual exhaust, which has a great sound. The car was updated with a brake job, valve job, carb rebuild, suspension lowered etc.... Exterior lights, signal lights, horn and fuel gauge work. The speedometer is not working (I do have another used tach that comes with car). Please take note that all the interior (faux wood) dash/window surround trim is intact. The only major safety equipment that was not fixed due to lack of time was the emergency brake!
The body is in driver quality condition, there are a few spots that need attention. for example, there is an area adjacent to the driver's side rear wheel well that the paint has popped, please look at the picture and video. There is also a small amount of surface rust under the chrome beltline molding, please look at the picture. There is also an area on the front driver's side fender where the rear edge of the front hood has gouged the metal. These are not by any means things that need attention right away, but I wanted you to be aware of them! The undercarriage is solid.
All of the side vent windows open up, front and rear windows roll up and down as they should. The front driver's side window is cracked, but all the other windows are in good condition. All the metal work (trim) is present, but as you can see from the photographs some of it needs to be replated. The front and rear bumpers are fairly inexpensive, approx. $150.00-$250.00 each. The worn rusty patina look doesn't bother me, I'm not into trailer queens. I like to pull up to a show and have the adults and kids interact with the cars.
I have the complete set of new hubcaps matching the front ones, but I didnt put the rear ones on due to the skirts. Therefore you get a full set of the new ones and a full set of the old school Chevrolet caps.
I decoded the factory Cowl Tag, which is located on the passenger side of the firewall, using several internet sources (please look at the photograph of the tag):
Style No 48-1011 (1948 Town Sedan)Body No N 2541 (Built in Norwood, Ohio plant/ vehicle production sequence of 2541)Trim No 151 (interior consists of Tan Striped Pile Fabric)Paint No 379 ( Two-tone factory paint scheme of Battleship Gray Metallic upper and Dove Gray Metallic lower). Unknown if these are the actual colors on the car now!
The car is only dropped 2-3 inches, but it looks lower on pictures due to the rear fender skirts. The car does NOT bottom out! If anyone is worried if it will go on the auto transporter, I will remove the rear metal skirts and wrap them in blankets. The drivers usually remove them to line up the rear tires on and off the tracks anyway, but they just throw them in the car. I will make it a point to remove the skirts, wrap the skirts in blankets and secure them in the vehicle (where they will not bang on any exterior panels).
Again, this is a great driver quality classic. The Town Sedan is a really cool 2 door body style that is NOT seen very often. You get a 2 door classic with a rear seat compartment big enough for the whole family. Drive it as is or make it a hot rod, customize it etc....... I drove it to local cruise nights and it draws a lot of attention and I got a lot of compliments. People love the old school lowrider look, the original worn interior and the body style. The only exterior upgrade was the dropped suspension utilizing bolt on parts from Butchscoolstuff.com, which gives this Fleetmaster a little attitude. Be advised that this is a 70 year old car that creaks and rattles now and then. If you can only drive a 2018 car that tells you how to drive, this ain't the car for you!
I posted a Buy it Now price, which I believe is a more than fair, so we don't have to play games! Do your research and see how many Fleetmaster Town Sedans are for sale, the condition and the price. Also look at all the many ways they can be customized. This is a great car to get into the classic car lifestyle without getting a loan or cashing in your IRA.
I have a clean and clear Title for the Fleetmaster, which will be provided to the winning bidder immediately once the funds are cleared. I accept Paypal, certified bank checks and or money transfers. No sales out of the United States due to scammers. Shipping is your responsibility, but I will be on scene to assist your transporter. If you need a transporter please call me, I have a very fair transporter that I'm currently working with that will give you a no BS guaranteed estimate. The cars are picked up on time and you can pay the entire bill on your credit card. Shipping to Cali from Connecticut is approx. $1,200.00 (from my personal experience).
I've been an Ebay member for the past 15 years without any negative issues. I've sold and purchased classic cars, sold motorcycles overseas etc... I treat people the way I expect to be treated. If you have any other questions, concerns or would like additional pictures feel free to call me at (203)5 two 1-seven eight 5 8. If I'm at work I will call you back when I'm free. I tried to download a video, but I can't (please text me and I'll send you my iphone video)!
Please ask questions, no such thing as a stupid question. My descriptions are probably too long, but I want YOU to be happy with your purchase!
