Car description |
---|
For sale is a 1979 Chevrolet shortbed 1/2-ton pickup. This truck was a prior build with a custom grille, shaved door handles, smoothed tail lights, smoothed tailgate with center Bowtie third brake light, roll pan with park/turn/reverse lights and a nice fiberglass lockable bed cover. It was emissions-legal for Ca with a LT1/4L60 so the nicely built exhaust system could easily be used with a LS swap. The front/rear suspensions were completely rebuilt and the brake system gone through. The front was lowered via drop spindles while the rear was lowered by way of re-arced springs and custom hangers. Front shocks are Tokicos, rears are KYB Gas-A-Justs. The differential is a truck 12-bolt open with 3:36 gears. The front sway bar is from a 1-ton dually camper special (heaviest bolt-on available from GM).
The truck body, floors and frame are rust and accident free throughout. There are a couple minor blisters developing under the paint on the hood and the hood is showing a slight bow on the passenger side. The sheet metal was not overly prepped before the prior paint job but has no real damage. The radiator support was removed to facilitate removal of the LT1/4L60 so some sheet metal alignment is needed as is some final assembly. All the glass is good, including the locking sliding rear window. The wheels/tires are rollers, nothing more.
The interior has a nice custom truck seat and custom door panels with a nice original dash pad. The carpet kit is aftermarket and in decent condition. A floor shifter was previously installed but the floorpan now has a partially completed patch and the steering column has been replaced with an original column-shift tilt unit from another 1979 truck. Door poppers are installed and worked well before the electrical was removed. The doors also has Electric Life power windows installed, which also worked well.
The truck was disassembled to update the HVAC system and some of the aftermarket electrical. The project stalled and more recently the LT1/4L60 was removed for install in an older Chevrolet pickup project. Pretty much everything that was removed from the interior is with the truck now except for the outdated stereo/speakers. Same for the removed electrical. Many additional HVAC components were gathered and are loaded in the truck. The dual fuel tanks, switch-over valve, harness and dash switch are installed or comes with the truck, only the external high-pressure fuel pump was removed.
This truck is a project, but a reasonably basic one as projects go. On a clear/clean CA title, last registered 10 years ago and off the road since then.
For sale locally so reserve the right to end auction early.
