Car description |
---|
1971 Camaro RS from Southern California. The body is solid with rust free doors, fenders, trunk lid and what look to be original quarters. Correct RS split bumper front end including Z/28 style air dam is up front. The hood is a 5" fiberglass cowl induction type and a '70.5 model year short spoiler rounds out the car in back.Paint is older driver quality black with matte charcoal colored stripes and does show some age, but there are no rust issues on the body. Floors are mostly original and are solid, trunk floor was cut out and replaced with a fabricated sheet metal floor to accommodate the fuel cell and relocated battery. Rear leaf springs were moved inboard and mini wheel tubs were installed to make room for the bigger wheel and tire combo. Weld in frame connectors were installed along with a 6-point roll bar with harness bar.
Powering this beast is a strong running 498 cubic inch big block Chevy with all good quality parts including forged internals, Edelbrock Performer RPM Oval port aluminum heads, Edelbrock Air Gap intake, Hooker Competition long tube headers. The electronic ignition system is all MSD including control box, coil and billet distributor. The fuel system is made up of a trunk mounted fuel cell, Holley electric fuel pump, Quick Fuel adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a Quick Fuel 750 CFM double pumper carb. A built reverse manual valve-body TH400 with stall converter backs up the engine and is shifted with a B&M ratchet shifter. Rear end is a Ford 9" rear with locker and unknown gear-set. It does have decent road manners, so I assume it is around 3.70 - 4.10 range. The car is a mean street car or could be a dedicated race car, it does have a clean and clear California title and is street legal as it sits. Clean and complete early 2nd generation Camaros are getting harder to find. This one is full of high dollar parts and is very competitivelypriced!
