One of kind award winning customized 1972 Chevrolet Step Side Pickup. This truck started out as a 1969 government owned step side short bed three speed on the column with a straight six cylinder engine. When I purchased it the cab had been hit in an accident so the process started with a complete off frame restoration. I replaced the cab with a 1972 cab that had tilt steering wheel and in dash A/C, with the VIN # on the cab it became a 1972 upon re-registration. The conversion of this unique vehicle started in the 1989 and was completed all but the interior by 1999. The interior and stereo were updated in 2010 and as any car enthusiast knows they are really never finished but reach stopping points.
So here are some of the modifications in that transformation:BODY MODIFICATIONS: INTERIOR MODIFICATIONS: PERFORMANCE AND RIDE MODIFICATIONS: 4" Chopped Top Bench seat removed and bucket seats added 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 engine bored .060Lift off hard top convertible Custommade console with flame stitching Electronic ignitionEverything shaved, no chrome, no door handles, no key locks, no gas tank filler, Custom door panels with flame stitching RV Cam no side lights or name plates Two tone faux leather interior, new carpet and sound proofing Eldebroc four barrel carburetorRemote keyless entry with emergency access under the hood Sony CD MPE WMA Stereo Headman HeadersPhantom front grill with recessed head lights and turn signals Kenwood 350w Amp 400 Turbomatic TransmissionSmooth tailgate cover 15" Kenwood woofer speakers behind seats 4" Heavy duty Radiator4" extended rear fenders with custom made flared steps New gauge console with tachometer 4" front drop spindles and 4" rear drop kitRoll pans front and rear, no bumpers Gas tank removed from interior and installed behind rear axel Modified coil suspensionCustom made bowtie tail lights, one of kind Vintage brand name in dash A/C using original controls Power front disc brakesCustom gas tank fill cover, Frenched radio antenna Tilt steering wheel with power steering Custom color matched wheels1994 Chevrolet Deep Forest Metallic Green paint with Pearl and Prismatic Metal Flake ghost flames, Oak wood bed with seven coats of Marine Polyurethane
This is an old school hot rod so it does not have some of the mechanical options that are being installed on the hot rods today, the mechanical and body modifications were done in the mid 90s so there is some updating that someone could do, as I said and all hot rodders know they are really never done. Since it's completion it has NEVER been wet, always garaged stored with a dust cover, but has been driven to dozens of car shows in Kansas in Missouri. It is NOT a trailer queen so it does have minor road tings from driving. The truck has won numerousawards including a First Place for Best Workmanship and Best in Class for most Radical Custom in the Daryl Starbird Custom Rod show in Wichita, Ks. The truck has less than 8,500 miles on it since the engine rebuild and the gauge console replacement. I'm in my 70s andquit going to car shows and now spend my weekends on the lake. It's time for the truck to find a new home where someone will appreciate it, do a little up dating and drive it on weekends. It is definitely a head turner and show stopper with over $35,000 invested in the rebuild. It has no major issues but has not been driven much since I retired and moved to the lake. Drives and rides like an old school hot rod with loads of power that will smoke the tires. Don't miss this unique one of a kind pickup. All information listed is to the best of my memory. Some photos were taken before the new interior was installed. This is a cash or cashier's check sale only at the time of purchase in exchange for the keys and clear title, no games, no scams and I do not need help selling this vehicle.
