Car description |
---|
Up for sale is one of the rarest 1967 Camaros ever produced. 51 years ago this May 2018 this car was actually at the most prestigious American race the Indy 500 and played some roll in the festivities. It is an ultra rare 4k (396/375HP MQ code) festival pace car. It is one of only two known listed in the registry and the only one with the fleet code. This car was used for a special purpose the week and day of the race. Most 375HP cars came with 4:10 or 3:73 rear gear ratios. This car being a special order festival car it came with a 3:31 QL posi. If anyone knows the special history of this car please let us know.I found the car in a small city close to Indy where a retired air force pilot had bought it while he was in the service. It took me over 3 years to purchase the car from the previous owner. When we found the car it was apart and a roller but it came with all the important stuff (original block with the broach marks, transmission, rear end with the factory square traction bar, and very nice original door panels). The factory cowl tag which has never been removed from the body was still intact and most of the parts were still with the car as it had been off the road since the late 1970s.We loaded the car up and brought it back and started a full frame off concourse restoration. As you can see the car has had an unbelievable amount of time and attention to detail in the past 3 years. I could go on and on about this car all day but it would not do it justice. I have owned at least 6 1967 Indy pace cars and I knew what this car was and it deserved to be finished to the highest standard. This car has the correct date coded original components like the rare code 4 bladed fan, clutch, distributor, carburetor, heads, manifolds, wheels, and many others to make this car the best of the best. I would welcome an inspection of this car as the photos do not do it
justice. The body has all it original panels except for the rear quarters which were replaced. All new date coded glass installed.I did add a power top to the car as well a tilt wheel for comfort. Other than that the car is factory correct in every sense of the word.I have driven this car 5 miles since the total frame off resto to assure that the bugs were worked out. It runs and drives just like it should, with no rattles or surprises. This car belongs in a high end collection and or a museum. I have other interests and have decided to put this car up for sale. However this is not a fire sale and It is a once in a life time chance for some lucky person to own a great piece of history. If for some reason this car does not sell on Ebay it will be at the Mecum auction in Indy middle of May. Please feel free to call or email any questions about the car.
