Car description

For sale. my 1966 Chevrolet El Camino. This car was pulled out of indoors storage this summer. It had been in storage since the mid 90's. It was sold new in Buffalo. WY the Protect-o-plate is still in the glove box. I bought it as a rolling car. originally it was a small block/three speed on the column car. It has the custom trim package. This is driver quality or a great restoration candidate. It has been painted once. I see a evidence of rust repair on the lower corners of the fenders but cannot find any other repairs. The wheel houses are nice. there is zero rust in the floors or rockers. My guess is this was done in the eighties as the interior has a case of that too. Couch upholstery and shag carpet. the headliner is decent but a interior kit would go a long ways to making the interior better. Here is what I have done to it since this summer:Fully rebuilt . 040" over 454 short block1966 360hp 396 heads and intake manifold. Fully rebuilt stainless valves. new cast guides and hardened seats on both intake and exhaustValvetrain is from a 502 crate engine. The engine was broke in and tuned on a dynometer. it produced 385hp@4800rpm and 485 ftlbs. @3000rpm (corrected). TH400 trans has been rebuilt can't say when came out of a truck I converted to 4l80E. has a shift kitLots of new parts such as belts. hoses. heater core. radiator. pulleys. brackets. alternator. water pump. driveshaft. valve covers. air cleaner. speed demon carb. fuel pump. nbsp;front shocks and moreNew Flowmaster exhaust with ceramic coated headers. 2. 5" dual exhaust with crossover and stainless tips: $1300 worthThe chassis is stock. still has manual steering and manual drum brakes. it does have big block front springs. It had a junky floor shifter. I rounded up a factory original tilt steering column and the linkage to convert it. Also changed out the brake pedal to the automatic style. It has a 12 bolt rear axle. I just changed out the 3. 31:1 gears it had with a 2. 73:1 posi. No more one tire fire traction issues plus it goes down the highway very nice now!The body is nice. I have restored several elkys and this is the best I would have started with. As far as rust. the only issues I see is an area by the gas filler door and there is some paint bubbling on the passenger side drip rail. Again. the floors and rockers are solid. Inside the bed there is some surface rust around the edges. someone dropped a spare tire well in the floor filler panel. I have located and purchased another one it will go with the car. The are some dings. one dent by the drivers taillight. Again. nothing major. The interior was redone like how we used to back in the day (yuck). Door panels. dash pad. nbsp;carpet and a seat cover would make this much more presentable! The am radio works but needs a new end on the antenna cable. Heater and wipers work. All of the weather striping is original but still in place. The headliner is still original and usable. It does need a windshield. The wheels and tires are new. 16" American Torque thrusts with BFG radial T/A's. This should allow room for larger disc brakes if one wanted to install them. To summarize. I was working on this car for a friend but he passed away before it was on the road. I bought it and continued on. It is a driver quality and drives well but keep in mind it has a lot of power for a stock drum stopped car! It is tight going down the road and has no issues. It has some wear and tear and still needs some TLC. I am not too attached to this car. I built is so it looks the era but runs better than the 396 cars ever would have. My reserve is basically what I have in just the car and parts. no labor I have other projects I want to work on and need to move on. If you like to tinker. this car would be great much of the hard work and the expensive parts are done. Work on it as you drive it! This one does not have to be torn all of the way down unless you want to do a frame off restoration. As far as trades the only thing I might consider would be an enclosed car trailer towards it. Other than that I could use the cash for other projects I am in the middle of. I had not planned on acquiring this one. it just happened that way. Thanks for looking. please contact me if you have any questions. NO. I do not need your help in selling this for your fee:)
