Robert Stempel, the GM of Chevrolet in 1983, authorized that 2 Corvettes be painted Hugger Orange, at the factory, for Gilmore/Foyt Racing. One Corvette was for A.J. Foyt and one was for Jim Gilmore. Jim Gilmore owned Gilmore Chevrolet, Cadillac, Pontiac in Kalamazoo Michigan and Abraham's Chevrolet in Miami Florida. He sponsored Championship race cars from 1967 - 1990 and was partnered with A.J. Foyt from 1973 to 1990. Jim Gilmore passed away in 2001 as a result of a freak traffic accident..This 1984 Corvette was Gilmore's Corvette. All of the documentation, original window sticker, factory special paint work order, original manual, and instructions, registrations and photo history come with the car. This Corvette was part of The well known Bob McDorman collection for years and was displayed next to Johhny Carson's and Diane Shore's former Corvettes.
