*Ebay didn't have a drop drop entry for Biscayne so I just selected Bel-Air*
For sale is a 1969 2-door Biscayne. This car is a "COPO" because it was ordered in Hugger Orange. That is the original color of the car. The car was originally owned by Pete Yacca of New York Speed and Machine in Staten Island. Pete used this car for street racing and track racing. He ordered the car on 07/20/1968 from Island Chevy on Staten Island. Please read more below about the story of this car!
427 engine rated at 425 horsepower, solid lifter
Automatic Transmission TH400
12 bolt rear axle special ratio, 4.10)
Special color: Hugger Orange (COPO order)
Aluminum Heads
Black Interior
This rare muscle car was a terror on the streets of New York with its sleeper looks and big power under the hood! After a few months of street racing and in the quest to be a step above the local street race competition, this car was sent to the New York Speed & Machine in Staten Island, New York. New York and New Jersey Street racers were unaware of the Biscayne's upcoming transformation by the installation of these parts:
Chevy's latest crate engine, a 454 (LS-7) GM rated at 460 horsepower. This was a Special Corvette engine that never made it to production (sold over the counter only a 454 CID LS-7version of the 427 CID L-88 offered in 1969). Features: 12:5 compression, special crank, special full floating pin with Boron bolts rods, alum. Intake manifold, 850 double pump Holley carburetor, High lift sold cam, #512 4 bolt main block.
Plus these added items.
High output roller cam and package
Power disc brakes
4.30 ratio rear end gear
Headers (Hooker)
Transmission / converter upgrades
GM Transistorized ignition system
GM Transistorized voltage regulator
Special wheels and tires
Pete Yacca's New York Speed's famous tune and build was now complete on this now ultra-unique rare muscle car.
This Biscayne became so famous in the local area that the owner had to change its color to dark blue and fitted it with new wheels and tires. This disguise was started one late Thursday night so a weekend big dollar street race could be set up (the Biscayne won).
This car was street and drag raced until late 1992, and then put into storage for 7 years. At the time, I finally got possession of the Biscayne in 1999 from the Yacca's, it was still painted dark blue and was in sad shape. It took over 3 years to fully restore the Biscayne back to its early 1970's appearance. This car is the only COPO 1969 427 Biscayne to have been special dealer ordered in Hugger Orange and it might just be the last one built. Looking at the build date of 05D the last week of May and special order COPO color, this makes for a truly unique, one-of-a-kind Chevrolet! With less than 80 of the 1969 Biscayne model produced with the 427 C.I. 425 horsepower engine, it has to be a much rarer and more collectable car than the 1970 SS454 450 horsepower Chevelle. How often do you find a one of a kind factory produced auto? You will not find another one in any car collection! This is a true piece of General Motors muscle car history!
Current Condition:
The car has always been garage kept. 60 miles have been placed on the car since restoration. The car does not need any work and is drivable on the street. No rust or mechanical issues. Ready for car shows. The car has been restored to the configuration it was in during the time period it was used for drag racing. Only original parts were used.
This item is located in Alma, Ar, 72921. Pick-up arrangements will need to be made by the buyer. Inspection is available for serious bidders.
Additional Information:
Included with this car upon purchase is a quite rare 1969 Chevrolet Dealer pamphlet over-viewing relevant product offerings: Caprice, Bel Air, Impala, Biscayne. This pamphlet is in extremely fine condition. It covers many optional accessories you probably didn't even know Chevy offered.
Question 1: There is a dealer sticker on the truck. What does the dealer sticker say?
There is a "YENKO" sticker on the truck lid. That sticker was added during the restoration process. My father did this for enjoyment at car shows and this is not part of the car's legacy. The sticker looks like it could be easily removed.
Question 2:What about the VIN number?
I will update the VIN number and provide a picture ASAP.
Question 3: Are there additional pictures of videos of the car?
Ebay said I was at the picture limit. Here is a link to a google album with additional pictures and videos of the car. I can take additional pictures of anything that you request.
