This 1963 Corvette Convertible is a fantastic addition to anyone's garage, and is the perfect combination of good looks, reliability, and drive-ability. Pulled from a collection that included a dozen award-winning Corvette's, this car gave the previous owner the most enjoyment simply because he could actually DRIVE IT, and not just wipe it down and worry about something happening to it. In a world where Corvette's consistently breach the six-digit price range, finding anything remotely affordable is a chore, and finding something that you can drive on top of it is almost impossible! That's what makes this car so special! The solid fiberglass body is covered in factory correct Sebring Silver that was sprayed on a number of years ago, yet still shows shiny and bright from every angle. Yes, it does have blemishes from being driven and enjoyed over the years, providing proof that you should keep your six-figure cars garaged at all times! I am referring to minor marks and things like stone chips, scuffs, and other small blemishes you might find on your typical year-old new car. As you can see from the 100 photos below, the car still looks great, and will be a feature attraction at any local cruise night or car show. I only mention the marks because they are on the car, and if you are looking for a $100,000 judged winner, this is not it. That being said, the finish does show wonderfully, and the silver color does a great job in absorbing the majority of the tiny blemishes you might find anyway, so spend a Friday night waxing it, and show it off all weekend to your hearts content! I have provided multiple, up-close photos of every segment of the car, and encourage you to review them, and request more if you want to see something additional. PLEASE KNOW THAT THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN PROFESSIONALLY DETAILED. I HAVE BEEN SO BUSY WITH AUCTIONS AND EVENTS THAT I JUST HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO DO IT. I shot the photos after cleaning it with quick-shine spray, and here it is! Just imagine how great it will look when you take the time to clean it from front to back at home! The headlights work like a charm, thanks to a modern electric conversion kit with under dash switch. No cockeyed lights on this machine, just smooth and easy up and down whenever you need them. Emblems and trim on the car are in great condition, and look beautiful all around. Chrome bumpers are pretty and bright, but will show a few VERY minor flaws in spots, such as light patina, or a small scuff as shown in the photos. Nothing that the crowd gathered around it a show will ever notice, but you might when cleaning it. Window trim is in very nice condition, and shows shiny and bright. Side trim looks good, and is in solid condition with only normal light signs of wear. Mirrors and door handles are in great shape and look that way too, as does the antenna! Keen eyes will notice that the exhaust tips come through the rear fascia panel like the Big Block cars, which looks cool too! Headlights, tail lights, parking lights, hi-beams, and turn signals all work as they should. The convertible top is a recent replacement, and has spent 90% of that time in the down position. It shows very light normal wear in spots, and the rear window has some light markings from being down, but overall, it certainly shows great, and works great too! Cragar 5 star chrome rims give it a 70's street machine look, and the wheels are all shiny, bright and clean with minimal, if any signs of use. Modern radial tires on all 4-corners give the car a great feel on the road, a modern ride, exceptional handling prowess, and ease of turning at slow speeds. The tires are clean and damage free with over 75% of the useful tread life remaining. Take down the top, and you are met by a clean, well-kept, and functional interior. Rear area holds two easily removable rear speakers, as well as the iPod plug and line for an auxiliary stereo system. Carpet in back is clean and neat. Jack and handle are included in the sale. Factory correct black vinyl seats are in very good condition, with no rips or tears, and only light normal signs of use. Aftermarket center armrest is a nice addition, and has a cupholder and storage not supplied on the original car (can you imagine? now it's a contest to see how many they can fit in a car)! Door panels are clean and solid, and all handles, rollers, and pulls are in great condition as well. Seat backs show light normal marks from regular use, but no cracks or damage. Dash is clean and solid, and the glove box functions as it should. Original style AM-FM stereo is intact, and all switch gear works and shows light patina from years of use. Clock glass has some issues, and would need replaced if you can't see past them. Center console surround shows well, and is a professional polish away from looking even better! Shifter works perfectly, and rows through all 4 gears without a complaint! Reverse too! Shift boot shows light wear and dryness, but is perfectly serviceable. Ashtray lid opens and closes as it should. Driver dash pod has correct gauges which all appear functional and accurate, with light patina on the trim rings, switch pulls, and key switch. All dash lights work, as do the turn signals and high beam indicator. Steering wheel is in very good condition, and functions as well as it looks. Carpeting in the front of the car is in very good condition, with only light signs of normal use, and no damage or disrepair evident. Rubber seals and weather-strip on the car are pliable, soft, and functional, and are recent additions in the past few years. Chassis is clean and easy to service, and the undercarriage is solid and treated to an older coating to protect it. Again, this is NOT a six-figure car, so don't expect to put mirrors under it at a car show! It is a maintained and functional car that is driven and enjoyed, and has the road grime and marks to prove it! Open the hood, and you see a 327ci V8 motor with the pad stamping VII23ME, and casting of 3892657. It is NOT the original motor, but was built for the car at some point with period looking valve covers and other stock-style components along with a host of modern upgraded items too. From MORTEC and other decoding sites, it appears as though it is most likely a 327ci CAMARO 2-Bolt main motor. The goal was to get a car that you could keep hooked to a battery tender, start up, drive and enjoy, and park again without having to ever turn a wrench or adjust anything in the process. Plain and simple - the car was built to be a driver, and it does that VERY well. Factory looking manifolds feed into the dual exhaust and sound really nice coming out the back, with a nice rumble and good bellow under power. It does not smoke at all, and has not left its mark underneath on the shop floor during her time with me. There are no noises, knocks, or other odd sounds from the engine, and it starts easily cold or warm without much coaxing. Oil is clean with no milkiness or issues. Engine runs cool, and stays below 185 verified by a temp gun, even after sitting at idle in traffic for 45 minutes on the way to the beach. Hoses, lines, etc. all show to be recently upgraded on the car as part of its normal maintenance schedule. Battery has a cut-off wheel for long-term storage, alternator is a recent addition, and the whole electrical system works very well without any known issues. It is a mild-built motor with the focus on reliability and ease of maintenance, but it still seems plenty fast when you hit the gas pedal! It pulls strong through all the gears, and the clutch travel and take up are spot-on with no signs of slipping or issues. Transmission shifts smoothly, and does not catch, bind, or grind in any way. Power drum brakes at all four corners work well, and are correctly adjusted to scrub off speed without pulling, catching, or excessive modulation. Steering is firm and tight, and gives great feedback to the driver with very little play in the wheel and a sure feel at any speed. In town, it is a blast to pilot it from red light to red light, and cruise the back roads, but on the highway is where it really shines, providing a stable, smooth, and sure-footed driving experience that makes going to the next State for a car show as easy as going to the next town! I have put about 75 miles on this car myself, and feel like anyone looking for a great-driving Corvette owes it to themselves to come and experience this one. You won't regret it, and you'll go home with a fantastic car that needs nothing but a detail and a full tank of gas!
