Pretty much like a barn find. An original, matching numbers, 1981 Chevrolet El Camino SS, factory 4 speed, AC, bucket seat car. This car is very rust free. No rust in any of the typical areas that 5th generation El Caminos rust at. The floors in this car are beautiful! I pulled the carpet out because it was worn out. Underneath were the most beautiful original sheet metal floors. This is an original Texas car, purchased new in Texas in 1981. I have the original sales paperwork when purchased new. This car was most recently registered in Nevada (2012). This explains the condition of the body. I found the numbers on the transmission and engine block match the VIN. The rear axle code is accurate for the car. The car runs, but will probably need a tune up. This car will make a nice original SS car with very little work. The factory data plate also backs up this car as being original. The two areas of gray primer were on the car when I bought it but as far as I can tell they are from minor damage/dent repair. The car needs work but you don't have to do any metal replacement at all. Check out the photographs.
