Up for sale is my all-original 1961 Chevy Corvair Monza. dressed in Roman Red. This is your chance to own an un-modified and unrestored. yet very presentable survivor car. I've owned this car for almost two years and have since returned the car to daily driver status. The paint. interior. and power train are all original to the car. The engine is the original 145 cu. -in. 98hp YN block. specific to '61 Monza's only. All the glass and body panels are in good shape and the car has minimal rust for a 54 year old car. It was understood that this car was parked in 1973 and left in a shed until 2012 when the original owner decided to clear his property. The car only had 48k miles at that time. Since my purchase. there were several things repaired and replaced on the car to make all the factory options work as they should. These items include:-Secondary ignition (Clark's ignition wires. AC 44 plugs. and an NOS distributor with new cap. rotor. and vacuum advance)-Valve adjustment with new viton push-rod tube seals. valve cover gaskets. and new oil pan gasket. -New tires (Original radial size Hancook P185/80R13)-COMPLETE brake system overhaul (Including remanufactured master and slave cylinders. relined brake shoes. and all new lines)-Repacked front wheel bearings and full chassis lubrication (ball joints. tie rods. clutch pivot tube. etc)-Full angle alignment. -Gabriel replacement shocks. -New wiper refills. -Fuel tank overhaul and all new fuel lines. -Rebuilt and synchronized carburetors (#52 primary jets installed and dechoked)-New exhaust system-Serviced ENTIRE electrical system with new bulbs. lenses. and switches-Transaxle fluid serviceThe engine runs well with no knocking or pinging. No oil leaks seen from the engine. aside from a drop every so often from the road-draft tube on a hot summer day. The input shaft seal is also probably leaking. as a drip is seen from the bell housing seam on occasion. The engine has plenty of power and performs well at highway speeds. Again. this car is a driver. Unfortunately. this car deserves to be garage kept and driven frequently. which I cannot do. Therefore. it needs a new home. As you can see from the pictures. this car is very presentable. No touch-up paint or respray was ever performed on this car. It's all honest and filler free. There is some moderate pitting to the paint and average dents and dings throughout the body. but for originality's sake. nothing has been repaired. **BE AWARE THAT THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN RESTORED. therefore the paint is what you'd expect from a 50+ year old car. ** There are a few areas of the body that could use attention. Floor pans are solid with the exception of a small hole in the driver's front floor and a slightly larger hole in the passenger rear floor (pictured). I haven't attempted to repair/patch these due to the carpet deteriorating upon removal. There is also a small rust area (pictured) on the passenger rocker panel. toward the front. The seats. dashboard. and headliner are all also in very solid and good condition. The seats aren't torn but have some discoloration along with some un-stitched areas. The door panels are definitely starting to deteriorate. but I haven't felt the need to replace them at this point. The car runs and drives great as is. but will need a clutch service soon. as the release bearing makes noise at idle (until clutch pedal is loaded). Not really an issue for daily driving. but should be replaced at some point. I reserve the right to terminate auction prior to auction's end. Please ask any questions BEFORE bidding.
