Beautiful 1968 Chevrolet SS Camaro. Yes, it is a real SS. I've owned this car since 2003. It is very clean, no rust anywhere, bottom/floors of the car look great and have never had any repairs. The car was painted 9 years ago, it did have the quarters replaced, and the hood replaced with a fiberglass, 4" cowl induction hood. Very nice paint job, and the body is straight. However, it does have small dings and scratches being 9 years old. I have touched up a few spots. It's a nice looking car, just saying it's not perfect.
It's got a 12 bolt, posi traction, rear end with 3:73 gears, and a M-21 Muncie 4 speed. They are the original transmission and rear end to the car. I recently replaced the clutch with a Centerforce, and installed a new Hurst shifter as well.
It has front disc, and rear drum brakes with an adjustable proportioning valve, American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, BFG Radial T/A tires with lots of tread. 255/60/15 in back, 205/60/15 in front. Hotchkis suspension, with 2" drop front springs, 1" drop rear springs, front and rear sway bars, poly a arm bushings, and poly body mount bushings. The front end is tight and drives perfectly strait.
The interior is clean, carpet is nice, door panels and seats all look good, no rips. The headliner was replaced a few years ago. All seat belts are there and function as they should. It has a factory console with wood grain accents. It also has a Pioneer stereo installed with speakers in the rear package tray, and subs/amplifier in the trunk. It's also got Autometer gauges/tach/shift light.
Under the hood, is a stout 383, 350 block with a 400 crank. This is originally a 350 equipped Super Sport, but it is not the original block. It is however, a great motor!! It was built for me by a local machine shop, it's not some mass assembled crate motor! It is balanced, and is the smoothest running high horse motor I've ever had. It's making roughly 450 hp. It's built with a Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam, (#12-432-8) ceramic coated Victor Jr intake, GM Performance angle plug heads, Edelbrock carb, 6 quart oil pan, ceramic coated headers with dual flowmaster exhaust.
The original engine block was in it when I bought the car, however it is now junk. I do still have the original double hump heads from the motor. I have a perfect front bumper, and bumper brackets for the car, I just like the looks better with it off. I also have the original owners manual, protect-o-plate, and misc papers from when the car was purchased new. 89,000 on the odometer.
