Hi. Up for auction is my 1991 Chevy Sport C1500 short bed, 5-speed, 305 v8 truck. I have put many new parts into this truck and it runs well. I recently made a 500 mile round trip in it with a load of furniture and it did not miss a beat. Passed Missouri inspection with no problems. The truck is in decent shape for its age, but has a few issues too. Please read everything and ask any questions if you have any. I will do my best to describe honestly this truck. NO ENGINE CODES are showing. I have the original build sheet, and this is a true SPORT, though the decals were removed long ago.
Truck had been sitting for a while when I bought it. Clutch had a little vibration when engaging from a stop. I believe it to be rust on the pressure plate, as it has gotten better the more I drive it. The clutch engages fine and has no issues as far as engaging with the engine.
New parts that I have put into the truck are: New exhaust from header back, including new studs and exhaust gasket, and new catalytic converter. New Distributor, plugs, wires. (old distributor had worn out drive gear). New water pump and 160 degree thermostat (engine has never overheated, and these were for my peace of mind.) New battery. Almost all sensors were replaced, including O2. New clutch master and slave cylinders. New brake master cylinders. Both rear brake cylinders. New rear brake shoes. New front brake pads (not installed....old ones have lots of life left...new ones are in the truck ready.) 2 new U-joints, not installed, but purchased and with the truck (old ones are tight still). New serpentine belt. Serviced transmission fluid (has a very slow leak at rear seal, but I have not seen the level drop in 3 years so far. Extra fluid is included with the truck.) New grille (old one was cracked at left front fender). I am sure there is more that I am forgetting.
The good: AC still works fine. Cruise control works great. Has a crappy radio, but it works. Glove compartment hinges are even still intact, though the dash is cracked. Has SS 454 style instrument cluster (OEM for the SPORT pickups) with tach. 308 rear end, 305 v-8, 5-speed. Runs about 1700 rpm at 70mph. I clocked 23 mpg on this truck. Has rear sliding window and sunroof. Bench seat is a bit soiled, but has no tears or rips. A few cigarette burn spots. Carpet is stained, but I believe could be brought back with a good steam cleaning. Running lamps work. Running very good with no codes. No oil in water side, no water in oil side. Does not smoke or burn oil. Has aftermarket receiver hitch. Original spare tire has one of the SS wheels (this is also OEM, and it actually has a code on the build sheet for the spare on this truck). Wheels are in good shape. Tires have lots of tread left. I am sure there is more good. Washer fluid works, but only driver side.
The bad:Truck has rust. See photos. Cab corners, rocker panels. Left front fender not too bad. Right front fender pretty good. Both rear fenders have rust. Bumper has bubbled under paint...but can be salvaged with some good body work. Mirrors have rust. I have kept black primer on the rust areas to slow it down since I bought the truck 3 years ago. Paint clear coat has started to delaminate on the hood and cab top. Some minor dings and scratches on the whole truck. It still turns heads going down the road. Emergency brake does not work. (cable was cut.) Needs a new blower fan for the heat/ac. It works, but rattles. Dash is cracked on passenger side. Scratches in bed. Could use a updated stereo. I think 2 speakers are connected. Windshield has 3 rock chips...one has started to star out. I scribed a circle around it with a glass cutter to prevent it from cracking out the entire windshield. So far, so good. Side window tint not that great.
Overall a pretty good truck, with collectible potential. Air filter housing is not original, but otherwise unmolested engine compartment. Sale is final, and has to be picked up...will not ship. I feel confident that you can drive this truck home from here. I will put a fresh oil change on it before you pick it up if you buy it. PLEASE look at photos. Thank you for looking. My start bid is my reserve.
