Car description |
---|
This is a 1978 Corvette Greenwood body custom convertible. It is in excellent condition and runs great. It could use a new top and some cosmetic touches. I do not believe it is an original Greenwood Industries car, most probably it was built by a very good body shop. When the custom work was done, the car was originally registered in Florida. At that time in Florida, the law required the car to be re-vined. The original GM vin number was removed from the dash pad under the windshield and replaced by two separate Florida ID metal tags on the inside driver's door. I have a clear Illinois title for the car.
The odometer shows under 20,000 miles. I do not know if this number is accurate, as the car has had a few owners before me. I have owned this car for eleven years and it is a blast- a total escape from reality, at least when driving it. It has a 350 GM engine, automatic transmission, and functioning side pipes that are loud. The tires are 265/50/15 on 15 inch wheels. Because the tires and track are wider than a stock C3, it is more stable at speed and easier to control. It is always one of the most popular cars at every car show I bring it to.
The frame is straight, and I and the mechanic who works on it do not see any accident damage or repairs anywhere on the frame. The frame is solid with no rust, but there are a few small areas of minor surface rust color discoloration that could be ground, primed and painted very easily. I live north of Chicago and since I have owned it, the car has never been driven in rain, on a wet street, in snow, or on a salted street- only driven from late May until the fall weather turns bad. In July of 2010, I had the car professionally appraised, and the fair market value was $31,000. I can send you a copy of the appraisal if you would like to see it. Since then, I have put a few thousand dollars of work into the car. I have a full service record of maintenance for the time I have owned it.
Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction early. It is sold as is with no warranty. If you have any questions, send me a message, or call me at: 847-446-8965 and leave a message on the recorder for: Mike. If you are in USA, I will return your call. If you are not in USA, we will have to arrange a time for you to call me and I will answer your call.
The best, safest way to buy a car is to see it in person and drive it first, or have your authorized agent see it and drive it. For a comparative small investment in travel and time, you know more and have a better understanding of the car. The car is available for inspection.
