Here is one of the most interesting 1974 Chevrolet Chevelle Laguna coupes in existence.
This 1974 Chevy Chevelle 454 Laguna S3 was built as a re-creation of the promotional Laguna used for the well-known 1981 movie, Cannonball Run, starring Burt Reynolds as the lead, J.J. McClure. The movie also included a cast of big names in Hollywood at the time, like Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, Dom DeLuise, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and a host of others. The movie car as well as this re-creation was badged as a street version of the Hawaiian Tropic race car of that era. In the movie; the car was driven by Terry Bradshaw and Mel Tillus as a couple of "good ol' boys" that preferred Budweiser as their main form of nourishment. Of course; the re-creation wouldn't be correct without a few empty Bud cans rolling around the floorboards. It was one of the most iconic car movies of all time, making the movie's starring car a legend in its own right.
This classic was restored by Restore a Muscle Car LLC and the Burt Reynolds Institute. Although very streetable; the car was refreshed mostly for promotional purposes so there are a few items on the dash that are not working. This car has been shown throughout the country as a Cannonball Run movie promo car. Making it more interesting, the Laguna Chevelle is still titled in
the name of Burt Reynolds company, Bandit Movie Cars of Florida.
The restoration work left it with the original 454ci V8 engine and rebuilt Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission. It's sporting a leather interior with the factor swivel bucket seats, with Sony sound system, and factory gauges. The exhaust runs through Hooker headers, a dual exhaust with cutouts, and Flowmaster mufflers. The body features a fiberglass cowl hood and chrome Cragar wheels wrapped in Goodyear NASCAR Eagle One tires.
This is an extremely cool classic that can be used as a promotional icon, or be the absolutely biggest hit of any car show!
