Car description |
---|
1970 Camaro Z28, this car is the real deal and comes with GM Canada docs. This Camaro retains its original factory installed M22 transmission and 3.73 rear end. The engine block is from a '76 Corvette and is obviously not original to the car. The person I bought the car from last year purchased it in 1979 from the 2nd owner and had it all these years, he drove it sparingly with only 63,XXX original miles. Mechanically we have gone through this car and repaired many items, the list is too extensive to post but know this car runs and drives extremely well and is safe. This car is not a show queen, this is a driver quality car and that is also reflected in the asking price.
Engine: non original block with a performance cam, was told the OE engine was vandalized. The great news is most of the original parts off the factory engine were moved over such as heads, intake, valve covers, power steering pump, 4555 list Holley carburetor, power steering, brackets etc. As you already know this stuff is worth thousands of dollar so that was a nice surprise to confirm. The radiator and shroud are the original ones to this car. At some point, headers were installed and custom exhaust was added, car sounds and runs great.
Transmission: Original born with M22, shifts and sounds great, transmission has no issues and clutch feels good.
Rear End: Original born with 3.73 12 bolt, no noises and is in great working order.
Interior: Deluxe interior, seats are 100% original as are all the trim pieces, this car came with the deluxe blue interior. The third owner tried to vinyl dye some of the blue trim parts and did a crappy job so they will need to be addressed or left as is. The carpet will also need to be changed as its in rough shape. The gas gauge and tach are not working all the time, I suspect a ground issue to fix this. The other instruments work well, someone removed the factory clock and added an oil pressure gauge many years ago.
Body: The floors, rear frame rails, sub-frame, radiator support and rockers look very solid. There is typical rust areas on both rear quarter panels and front fenders toward the bottom. The rear tail panel and trunk pan will require attention if restored, there is accident damage and hard to see in the pics. The car was painted some time in the '77 back to the factory colour but they painted white stripes rather than factory black. Overall the body is in driver quality condition with dents/dings and 40+ year old wear and tear. The lacquer paint is checked and shrinking in some places. Looks like all the body panels are original to this car, cannot see anywhere obvious where something was changed. Considering the length of ownership from the 3rd owner I believed him and also verified for myself.
Paper-work: Yes I do have GM Canada documents to support what this car was from the factory. I personally ordered these last year from GM Vintage Vehicle Services, this car came with some neat options. This car would have been a well optioned Camaro back in 1970. I do not have another other docs nor did the third owner, the selling dealer was in the Province of Saskatchewan.
This car is registered in my name in the Province of British Columbia. I live 15 minutes from the Blaine boarder crossing in WA state. If this car is being imported into the US or overseas you will need to look into what that would take.
I have owned a few Camaros in my day...and have described this car as honestly as I possibly can. Want the next owner to either drive and enjoy or restore the car and start with a great base, car with docs is not overly common in our hobby so that is a bonus. Should you require specific photos please contact me with your questions.
Price is in US Dollars, this car is also listed for sale outside of E-Bay, so it is possible the listing might end.
Nowarrantyexpressed or implied, you are buyingthiscar as is where is.
