Car description

1948 Chevrolet Stylemaster Coupe that I started building over 5 years ago. Complete off frame with all rubber and wear components replaced. I tried to keep all of the original design of the car while incorporating modern components.-Chassis, stock Chevy frame with Heidts Mustang II front suspension on air ride, rear is leaf spring with air shocks. Modified original stock steering column. Pictures are of the suspension deflated, it rides and clears well at 90psi.-Engine, 2006 Chevy LS 5.3 from a wrecked Silverado. Stock except for ceramic coated headers, including GM fuel injection. New bearings, rings, seals, and gaskets. Custom built Desert Cooler aluminum radiator. Even starts with the foot button on the floor like original.-Trans, TH700R4 with vacuum actuated torque converter lockup, rebuilt with corvette components by local reputable trans shop. Shifting is via the modified original 3 on the tree shifter.-Rear axle is an 8.8 Ford with new gears, bearings, 3.73 ring and pinion on a Ford racing posi carrier.-Disc brakes front and rear-12 volt air compressor onboard with aluminum air tank.-Interior, I used all of the original components that I could, seats have new foam and recovered, including the door panels, new carpet and headliner. Design is very similar to original.-Body, I cut out all of the rust in the door bottoms and a few small parts of the floor and replaced with new steel. Everything was then undercoated after being welded back together. Paint is a single stage urethane with a flattening agent. I am not a paint and body guy, so this part of the car is not perfect. There is body filler over the welds and to touch up some of the dents. The body gaps are not perfect, and there are some flaws that I have taken pictures of.-New Tanks Inc fuel tank and pump-Master cylinder is in the original location under the floor, all brake components are new.-Trim, all of the trim has been powder coated with a hammer tone finish.-Wheels, American Racing, 245/45-17 on the rear, and 225/45-17 in the front.-Exhaust, dual Flowmasters, exit under the bumper, sounds really good with a nice rumble.-Gauges are all new Auto Meter, I have the original gauges.
This car does only have 1437 miles on it today, which is why I am selling it, I don't drive it. I enjoyed putting it together but just can't find the time to drive it the 3 years it's been completed because of other things going on in our lives. I would rather someone else enjoy it than it sit in the garage and collect dust. It drives nice, has heat/defrost, electric wipers. There is a crack in the driver's side windshield, quite affordable from Chevs of the 40s. I have several pictures from the build, some of which are included in the listing. Not a professional build, but a nice driving car that was built to be driven.
