RARE!!! 1971 Chevelle 2 Door Malibu Sport Coupe
True Barn find. Complete rare beautiful Malibu. This car has never been molested. This car was retired and parked in a barn in 1985. I found it in early 2017 and recovered it. The driver's front fender and inner fender was missing but they had a new (NOS) factory GM inner and outer fender (not a cheap reproduction) that came with the car. According to receipts the tires on the car appear to have been purchased new in 1976. The car runs and drives great! It still has original red steel wheels and beautiful original hubcaps! One of the most original cars I've ever seen. The previous owners have documented all maintenance of the car from 1975 until 2001 which they let the car run in the barn and drove it down the road. When I found the car it was looking sad, it was unassembled (bumpers, interior, hood, trim and a few other things). We brought this beautiful original extremely solid Chevelle home to bring her back to life.
We reassembled the car using all original parts provided with the car. I replaced distributor cap, spark plugs, replaced a few bulbs (which all lights work including back up lights), blew out gas tank and fuel lines and replaced the carpet due to dead mice smell (as I said it is a barn find). I did not do any body work at all and have lots of photos and video of the body under all chrome trim and floors under the carpet so the new owner can see exactly what the car is like. Many car people have looked at this car in person and have been blown away by the originality of this survivor.
This car is RARE and should be treated with respect in a nice collection. Of course I can't control what happens to the car but I would hope the new owner would PLEASE keep the car as is original survivor. This car deserves to remain a six cylinder stick as there are very few six cylinders still in existence today. The car has some rust of course rear quarter panel behind wheels only, small spot on passenger front fender and rear window leaked and caused rust hole in trunk sides, smaller rust hole by seat mount in floor, easy fixes, rest of floors and trunk are perfect! (if you know Chevelles at all you know these are very common spots for these cars). Under the carpet the floor still has all factory sound deadener and factory red paint! This car is NOT a rust bucket this thing is solid you would have a hard time finding another survivor this solid and original.
The pictures do this car no justice. This car runs and drives EXCELLENT!
