1987 1500 C/K Custom Deluxe 4 Speed Pickup Truck
Bought this truck a while back to restore but just don't have the time. This truck originated from and was maintained by the National Park Service at Coulee Dam Washington. Just prior to selling it they put a new starter, clutch, clutch slave cylinder, fuel filter, new front brakes and calipers, rear brakes, tires 90% and muffler on it. The engine is the original V-8 L03 305 CID with the 081 cylinder heads and electronic fuel injection. 1987 is when GM started the engine and fuel delivery systems changes for the L03 305 CID engines. The differential is a highway .256 gear ratio with a M465 4 speed manual transmission. The air conditioning system is still sealed and unadulterated. It will need minor servicing to bring it back to cold. The compressor clutch turns freely by hand.
33,000 original miles. This truck starts, runs, steers, shifts and drives very well with all the gauges working. The engine runs very quiet and smooth. Mechanically this truck can be driven cross country. All the way around the truck feels tight with no squeaks or rattles.
Pro's: The truck is perfect for an inexpensive restoration because it's all original, sheet metal is very straight, galvanized bed and the cab, door panels and gauge cluster are clean. Both doors open and close tight, no alignment or door seals needed. Window regulators function well.
Cons: The dash board is cracked and needs to be covered or replaced. The window weather seal and vent seal on the driver's side need replacing. Rear tailgate handle needs adjustment but opens and closes fine. You'll notice in the images that it could use a paint job. Back in the 80's the factory clear coat had a habit of flaking off. The heater core was bypassed by the National Park Service garage and needs to be replaced.
Update: Discovered a small leak recently. Fuel tank pulled to replace the fuel lines and tank asender O ring.
This truck has all original paint and metal.
