Up for auction is a stunning true classic American muscle car--a Cortez Silver 1970 Chevelle SS with black stripes and cowl induction. I have owned this chevelle since 2005. In that time. a lot of upgrades have been done to it. However. to retain its originality as much as possible. I have installed a built 454 CI LS6 inspired engine. a new Muncie M-22 4-speed. all new wiring. all new suspension with wheels and tires. new paint job. new carpet and lots of new seals. The car is very solid and rust free. This is a non-numbers matching car. No build sheet or protecto plate. I believe it to be true SS based on having all the SS features in the car when I bought it. Nevertheless it is a beautiful Chevelle! This car is a real pleasure to drive and for taking to car shows. It has been driven approximately 7. 00 miles since the time that I rebuilt it. It runs great. even on premium pump gas. and is very reliable; it also stops and handles probably better than when it rolled off the show room floor. I would not hesitate to take it on a 2-3 hour trip to a car show or road trip. This car is pretty well close to perfection but could use a few minor touch-ups. First. paint job is very presentable but does have some flaws. So I give it a 8 out of 10. Second. the clock does not work. Next. the transmission has a slight grind in 2nd gear. probably a syncro issue; it has been like that since its installation. This has not affected drivability. The transmission shop mechanic estimates that it will cost about $500 to correct the issue. Lastly. speedometer quit working a while back. I have almost all receipts of work and parts that I have purchased and used for this build if you have any further questions about it.
