The Camaro was Chevrolets answer the ever growing popularity of the Ford Mustang. Being introduced just two year after the Ford pony car, Chevy wanted to impress buyers with more aggressive body lines, multiple trim options, along with both big & small block engine options. It instantly made a dent in Ford sales each and every year, and a new generation of the Ford/ Chevrolet rivalry had begun! The final year of this first generation Camaro came about in 1969 and continues to be the most desirable today! One Chevrolet dealer based in Canonsburg, PA got an early start on performance enhancements on his Chevrolet lineup to further separate himself from the competition. This meant working directly with Chevrolet on Central Office Production Order (COPO) units that were factory fitted with Corvette power plants, and basic Super Sport equipment like the 12-bolt axle, power disc brakes, and big block suspension! He would order and build just 201 Camaro Yenko SC427 Sport Coupes in 1969 making them one of the rarest of muscle cars to ever appear on the market. With crazy price tags to match their limited availability, most Camaro enthusiasts and collectors will settle for a tribute example replicating an original.
We are extremely lucky to offer this beautifully restored 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe Yenko SC427 tribute! Finished in striking Daytona Yellow and Black vinyl bucket seat interior (711), it comes well equipped with factory options! a fully rebuilt, later generation 454ci V8 and Turbo-Hydraulic 400 automatic 3-speed transmission it features power front disc brakes, power steering, Yenko hood & side stripes, Yenko 427 badging, cowl induction hood, chrome engine dress up kit, 15” American Racing Torque Thrust wheel wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires measuring 215/65R15 up front & 255/60R15 at the rear, body sill moldings, wheel lip moldings, roof rail drip moldings, quarter trim moldings, & blacked out tail panel, front & rear spoilers, Deluxe steering wheel, AM pushbutton radio with dual rear seat speakers, true dual exhaust system, and more!
A close look at this magnificent Camaro will show super slick paint, very sharp interior upholstery with proper YSC headrests & padded carpet, wood grained deluxe dash, center console, fresh weather stripping throughout, fresh braking system with brand new master cylinder, new BF Goodrich T/A Radial tires, rebuilt suspension with new upper/lower ball joints, control arm bushings, sway bar links, tie rod ends, shocks; newer exhaust with Dynamax mufflers, original LOF side & rear window glass, and so much more! The engine was professionally rebuilt by Luke’s Central Machine in Mason City, IA to include .030 bore to the block, new pistons & rings, polished crankshaft, street performance camshaft, new valve guides & seals, all gaskets, and rebuilt heads with stainless steel 1.88 exhaust/ 2.19 intake valves. Atop the engine rests a Weiand Stealth aluminum intake with Holley Street Avenger carburetor, Hedman long tube headers, all new ignition system, fresh belts, new hoses & clamps, filters & fluids! It truly sounds as good as it looks, considering the restoration was completed in approximately July 2004. This example left factory as a 350ci V8 with automatic according to the included Protect-O-Plate, and sold new to Dorothy Andrews of Bridgeport, IL. It must have been garage kept most of its life, and remains a very solid investment today! It runs down the road just as you would expect, with stellar performance in every respect! It will come complete with original owner’s manual, spare tire with cover, tool, some recent service records including the engine overhaul, storage car cover, two sets of keys, and rubber floor mats. Please feel free to call with additional questions, or to schedule an opportunity to see it in person! Thanks for looking!
