Vehicle Overview 1988 ChallengeCorvette:
1 of 35 remaining cars of the 56 originally built. This car was driven in all 10 races by Doc Bundy, a professional driver for both Lotus and Chevrolet. 1 of 22 cars to run all races and finished all 10 WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE. Its best finish was a 4th place at St. Pete.
For 1988, Chevrolet built 56 identical cars, of these 46 were actually raced, and only 22 participated in all 10 races. Today, it is believed only about 35 remain as several were destroyed during the season and GM took back 12 for engineering analysis and ultimately had them destroyed.
This car, #80 has been well preserved since being retired from racing and shown and displayed at numerous Corvette Shows throughout the country, from NCRS Meets, Corvettes at Carlisle Challenge Car Reunions and Bloomington Gold.
