This has been my Baby. and it was the pride and joy of the builder . before I got it. It runs great. drives straight. starts easy. ill roll down the freeway at any speed you want. Its smooth and so much fun to drive. It handles great. nothing like the old stock trucks that wandered all over the road . This one is rock straight and solid. And if you stomp on the gas . you better hold on. because it hauls ass. Its not cammy . it runs smooth and gets very good gas mileage for what it is. It has a 350 Motor with Edelbrock carb . 700 4 speed Auto trans . all steel low mileage body built on a S10 frame. It has power steering . power brakes. tilt steering . full size period steering wheel. Original recovered and rebuilt bench seat . so comfortable ). The interior is redone with great paint . original style seat bench seat cover . all the original gauges . plus under dash . oil pressure . temp and amp guage. It has a suicide knob on the steering wheel. All the goodies it could have had back in the day. Fun Fun Fun! The paint is correct Blue and is so smooth and bright . it draws smiles and cheers where ever we drive it. It really is great quality paint Job. Really can’t say enough about the color and quality of this paint and chrome . Its just so Good looking ! The rear box deck is solid and finished in a water proof deck board with a built in flush mount flip-up wheel chock for carrying a motorcycle . I used this truck to carry my antique Indians and Harleys to local shows. It also has a rear trailer hitch. but its custom made so . the receiver is hidden and when quickly removed . you would never know it had a hitch or receiver. I used it a few times to pull a small bike trailer. But the hitch is strong enough to pull what you wish. I was thinking of getting a 1951 Chris Craft boat and built the hitch strong enough to do the job. This truck started life as a low mileage 1951 Dually wrecker . that’s right see the photo included. It was nicknamed Brutus and still carries that name in pin stripping on the rear frame . below the tail gate. The previous owner and builder was a long time Chevrolet Mechanic . he bought the wrecker in 1959 with about 4000 miles on it. It was clean and solid . he stored it inside his barn and drove it to car shows until the mid 80’s . Then he decided to build the pickup. It was a long project . he took his time and did great work. Built on an S 10 frame he used all the right stuff. great low mileage 350 motor. carb new power brakes . 700 4 speed auto trans. a super Loc Star shifter. The Loc- star looks like a old school tall floor shift . but has a push button in the shift knob. that allows you to just select each gear . as you move the selector forward or back. Very easy to use . but looks like a standard shift . This truck looks stock inside and out . but has all the modern equipment to make it easy and safe to drive. fires up instantly every time . steers and stops straight . runs smooth and cool. I hate to sell it. but I have just bought a few antique bikes and need the garage space . It has spent its life inside a warm garage . has no rust is solid top to bottom. Neither I or the previous owner put many mile on it. but last winter I was having work done on my new Toyota and used this as my daily driver for two months. Never missed a beat and was comfortable and fun to drive. I’m 67 and have spent my life building and driving antiques . Most of them have issues . little nagging problems . This one doesn’t it was built with pride and meant to be used. No disapointments here. Faults : It has a small paint chip on the back of cab on a seam. also a paint rub mark from hood closing. This must have been an adjustment issue before I got it. There might be a couple of small chips on a running board or the inside of the tail gate. But not much and I have a can of the original paint that can be used for touch up . You won’t notice any of this unless you search. There are some scratches on the inside of the tail gate from where one of my bikes rubbed. Not visible from out side of box. The hub caps are really a nice touch and nice and straight. but they were nice originals. unrestored and could use chroming to match the quality of everything else. I would have done it but thought I might get custom wheels . then realized this is a nicer look. Chev.
